Walk around Vid of X3 M40i

Attended UDE this morning and shot a walk around vid of the M40i. Interior looks like a huge upgrade from last gen. Car looks amazing.

Not an exciting vid but tried to capture some detail for those who haven't seen one in person yet.

Really well done. Thanks for posting.

I know that it has been raining, but did anyone else notice the rust on the rotors? Happened to my GT too. My 2004 Z4 is stored each winter and in the spring the rotors are fine. Has BMW gone cheap?

Thank you, this was a nice vid.

I noticed the rust too. My current X3 (2015) also shows some rust on the rotors but no where to the extent that one has.

I think that's pretty universal for cars that are outside unless the rotors are carbon ceramics.

Yeah, that’s completely normal for disc brakes. I don’t know of any that don’t do that, aside from cars that aren’t exposed or have specially formulated discs. Go outside and walk the parking lot on a wet day, the cars that have sat awhile will always have some rust on the discs.

Thanks everyone!

The rotors on my X5 are similar. They're rusty after a car wash

I test drove the M40i yesterday and if you were coming from a M Sport steering wheel you really notice how thin the regular steering wheel is. It almost makes the car feel less powerful.

Yep, they should have at least thickened it up some and given it the stitched leather look air bag.

Can I ask for those of you who went to the UDE at Citi Field - was there parking available?

To anyone going this weekend, the answer is yes. LOL - you can never tell in NYC.

Anyway, it was the first time I actually saw and sat in a M40i and just my first impression of it was that it seemed so different yet so familiar with my current X3 - but I definitely think it's noticeably upgraded and far more aggressive in style. The first thing I noticed was how big the iDrive screen is, and I found the seats to be comfortable.

By the way, after experiencing the Autocross with a 540i.... I realize how much I am not the ultimate driver vs all the other folks in the group. lol
