Mine was replaced at 2800 miles. Car was built Dec '07. It's amazing that these things are still failing in the third year of production.

Not uncommon at all man. I had mine replaced in Jan or Feb and it turned out the one the put in was defective as well. They had to replace it again a couple weeks ago.

No worries when I was much younger I borrowed my parents car to take this girl out on a date.. (our first one) and the power steering pump went on a MB ML430. We got about a mile from her house and it went while I was making a left hand turn.. Knew what had happened as soon as I heard the pop and the steering wheel got super tight. Nearly clipped the curb during the turn, but realized quick enough to reign the car in by giving it a bit extra gas. She thought I was crazy and trying to show off by making a hard fast turn. I have driven garbage trucks for a long time so I know how to drive without Power steering. But I drove her home and drove the car back home and took it to MB the next day.

Gonna put the car under a cover for 3 months... I know this set up works extremely well. Want to help someone else put down the power that I searched over a year for. This combination of parts is fantastic and I figured I minus well put the money in the bank till I come back. Plus I am graduating in like 4 months and need to buy an apt in NYC and even though I have saved a lot of money there is no such thing as enough. Unless of course I want a 6th floor studio walk up.. but I don't see that as a very good investment.. =x

NHTSA opens investigation.

If you had a fuel pump issue in the past, you must submit a complaint at www.nhtsa.gov or https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/Consumer.cfm .
