They are made to plug and play with OEM EDC and are optimized to work with stock springs. OEM dampers are made by Teneco(sp?) which isn't known for the best suspensions.

this guy should check his vin http://bimmer.work/ to determine whether he has EDC, unless he knows for sure that when he changes his eco/comfort/sport/sport+ options that he feels a change in the suspension stiffness as well. and even then, he should probably confirm via the vin.

i did, but it didn't convince me that he knows he has EDC. lots of people mistake what eco/comfort/sport/sport+ do. it's worth him double checking before we assume he has it and orders the wrong parts.

ok so here is what Bilstein said" Ok Randy then Bilstein does not make a Electronic shock for the BMW 3 series. You would have to go for a Bilstein B6 series and run the EDC Cancellers so there will be no suspension light on the dash BUT you will loose the function of the Electronic shocks". Since I don't want to loose the Electronic shocks what is my next option guys??? hell I just want a smoother ride.. why is this so difficult..

You need to decode your vin and find out if you have adaptive suspension.
If you do have the adaptive and want to keep it, you must do springs only swap/drop. i suggest Dinan or ACS springs, Dinan shockware and shorter bump stops. Personally I'm speculating you do not have it and I'd suggest Bilstein B14 PSS or KW V1 for xdrives. |

car has the eco, comfort, sport and sport plus option, its a 320ixdrive. so I know I have edc. which means I have to buy shocks that can be electronically controlled by there own box. ie, I loose the use of my edc switch, Which I wont due, I have spoken to KW and they said they have nothing that will fit my car without lower at least a min 1/2 inch.

Shockware is great FYI. I have adaptive and I want to get lowering springs but would like to have dampers to handle it as well

I have all those buzzwords on my 335i and no EDC. I can change them "on the fly" which only changes shift parameters, etc and slightly modifies the steering. As others recommend, decode your VIN, check your last 7 of VIN on REALOEM and/or have your dealership run your build-sheet to see if you have EDC.

The best way to put this all to bed is - as mentioned numerous times - decode the vin.
Another way to tell is when you switch modes "on the fly" your center display shows you only a highlighted engine when you don't have EDC. When you do have EDC, you get a highlighted engine and shocks. At least that was true on the 2017 340i I test drove... |
