Where Is The Official Mileage Stored?

Long and short. My new M5 CP has a mileage stopper, and i believe the mileage isnt true of the car. In process of rejecting car and getting a refund.

BMW having the vehicle Tuesday to confirm the device. Can they pull off the official mileage? Is it possible?

Super gutted though. Will mooch hard on the next one.

So there was a device found. They filter the mileage to all ECUs so you will never find out true mileage of the car. In that regards, its been misrepresented and i wont be wanting to keep this car. All services maintenance oil changes could be out

Hopefully things go well and i get my money back and some reimbursement.

Who fitted the device? How did you find out about it? It's a new one on me.

Was sold with it on, i take it the garage didnt notice. So im assuming one of the previous two owners fitted it. Have no idea how long these have been around?? (first being registered to a lease company)

I was deactivating stop start tech, which in turn by accident i was activating the blocker. Then i started to look into it.

Never even knew they existed! BMW tech said to me it had to be a blocker, and they got the car in and found it.

So far...the garage i got it from is not taking responsibility.

Getting close to resolution now. As i had 3rd party finance they accepted my rejection and will refund my money back, also will look at extras being returned too.

They are then going to reject the car to the garage and take matters further. Basically removing me from the equation. Not driven the M5 for a few wks but will be collected off my drive soon.

Back to the old M5 hunt again!!!

Is there a quick way to find out if one of these has been fitted, or is it a dash out job?

These usually have on/off options
Mostly attached to start/stop. But could be another button ....
Sold on ebay so they usually tell you on there, depending on car, some may have a different way of operating.
Any dubious mileage from history id think twice or ask a few more questions eg if car only done 1-2k miles in 6-9 mths (can find all that data from MOTs Services and visits to BMW).

No, fairly reputable performance car garage in Bristol
RS Direct. Seemed great, friendly etc but when it came to light they didnt want to know. And i bet they wouldnt want that car back....as they will be in a loss situation. Id like to think they didnt know, but its not my problem, im just an innocent consumer buyin a car.

Wow, I remember seeing that car for sale. What a fascinating story. You knew your consumer rights and they worked for you which is great. Many would just bend over, so well done.

Interesting about RS Direct. They have a good rep in general, sounds like they let themselves down here. Good customer service is about how the difficult things are dealt with, not the bit where they persuade you to part with your money.

And such a device is a new one on me. Lucky you found it.

Very lucky, bit of research, speaking to some people (as i never knew they existed), good mate of mines wife is a solicitor who guided me, had a timeline to reject car and it worked out. Hitachi Business Finance were brilliant i must say, kept a credit line open for me when i had found a replacement car.

I just tracked all mileage recordings possible this time, ie everytime at BMW and found out why!
