245/40/19 on 443m wheels?

Hi there,

Would a square setup of 245 40 19 works on my 443m wheels? I have a 330d xdrive with ac schnitzer springs, so slightly lowered.

I’d like a bit more tyre depth to absorb the pot holes of Cheshire and it also means I could rotate the tyres.

It also means I could get Avon zz5 tyres which are cheaper than my current tyres and they get good reviews.

Would they fit ok with no rubbing?

Would they look ok?

Many Thanks, Adam

Yep, I've got that size on my fronts, fit perfectly, much better than the standard 225's!

How much are the Avon's? My Goodyears were only £140 each!

Hi there,

That’s great news thanks, the Avon’s are £132 fitted, are they eagle f1 ass 3s you have? What do you think of them?

Cheers, Adam

Yes the assy 3’s are awesome, worth the extra over Avons I’d imagine.

Do you mean 245/40?
I think you would want 235/40 or 245/35 fitted.

Ha no problem.

I did want a bit of extra comfort so the 235 / 40 would be better than the 245 / 35s but black circles don’t do the assy 3s or Avon’s in that size.

Do you think 245/40s would rub or would they be ok?

Cheers, Adam

You'd be adding 8mm to the radius on the fronts - they wouldn't look very good in my opinion.

It may also vary the speedo more than you would want too.

If it's an xDrive you would be advised to stick to tyres with a circumference close to standard. 245/40 is probably not going to fit that remit.

Be careful about wide front tyres, they will aquaplane much easier than the stock width tyres.

Bloody hell, I thought we’d established that size is not right!

OP the Goodyears are available in 245/35 from BC:

https://www.blackcircles.com/catalog...?tyre=34510549

Cheaper from Oponeo though:

Ah yes you’re right about the increased chance of aqua planing I hadn’t considered that.

Ok, so if I wanted a little bit more tyre depth but no increased risk of aquaplaning are there any suitable options left?

Cheers

What tyres are you currently using? If they are run flats, moving to a non run flat will make the world of difference. Size for size.

I run Michelin Pilot super sport in standard sizes. No real drama with pot holes, although I do have Bilstein suspension which isn't as crashy as the stock setup. The tyres do make a difference.

I have Michelin pss as well in the standard sizes with ac springs. I’m happy with them but would like a little bit more comfort.

What do you reckon to 235 / 40 all round? I was looking at uniroyal rain sport 3s as I would like the increased grip in the wet.

Basically my back tyres need doing and it’s like £420 to change those for pss or I could get 4 235/40 uni 3s done for £632 and could rotate them. There is 4-5mm left on my fronts.

Cheers

Is that with the 245/40 on the xDrive? Are you still within the 1% tyre tolerance?

Remember if you have drivetrain issues, could void the warranty.
