Cheap 4 Series lease deals

Email from Central Vehicle Leasing today giving a load of deals on Coupe and Gran Coupe 4 Series, all ranges of engines.

Headliner is the Gran Coupe 420i M Sport at £186/month £2400 deposit all incl VAT for 5k miles. Even decent engine stuff listed there like 430D M Sport Gran Coupe at £258/month on a 12+23 with 8k miles. 440i is £342 on the same basis.

Ive had this too but the initial rental on the bigger engines seems steep for a 24 month lease in my opinon - £12k over 2 years, do that twice and you could probably buy something similar at a few yrs old from AUC for peace of mind. Not everyones view i know but feels like alot of money for nothing at the end of it to me!!

True but this way you would never have a car older than 2 years old. With buying and spending the same you start with an older car and end up after 4 years with a very old car. Sure it will have sme residual value but also possibly significant repair and servicing costs.

It’s much cheaper than buying new and that’s only comparison you can make.
That’s one penalty of brand new - steep depreciation. However, there are ,any advantages of buying new or leasing too.

Interesting you say he’ll have “nothing at the end of it”. Cars are depreciating assets, you always end up with nothing.

You’ll have nothing to show for it after 2 years i meant, if you bought and spent the same you would over 4 years you will still have a car thats worth something atleast.

Like i said just my opinion

I understood what you said. However, to compare the cost of ownership correctly, you need to account for the disposal of the asset.

Im not suggesting for a minute that purchasing a new car is cheaper for a given time compared to a second hand car, just you need to compare apples with apples.

5k miles a year is 400 miles a month. Who'd buy a new car to do so few miles at such high expense?

£342 for a decent model.

It's £1/mile nearly just on the lease. Never mind deposit.

Then tax, fuel and insurance.

It's got to be cheaper to get a taxi everywhere.

Very true. However, you’d be amazed at how many people will spare no expense to avoid the silky professional driving skills, inane chatter of the “chauffeur”, and nuclear hot interior temperatures that only a Pimera can offer.
