Just spoke to someone at Dinan, my car wont have oil cooler? WTF?
I just ordered a 2008 E93 335i with the Sports Package. I was talking to the rep about the new software and he said I couldnt get the Stage 2 if I didnt have the oil cooler bla bla bla. He told me the only cars that come with the oil cooler are sport package cars that have upgraded to 19" ?
I always thought it was 18"? I really hope this guy doesnt know what he is talking about. Will I be getting it or what? The sports package automatically adds the 18" wheels so WTF? |

He is thinking of the 335xi... that requires 18" wheel upgrade which gives you the 155 top speed and oil cooler
All sport package 335i 's since march of 2007 have oil coolers, pre-march 2007 sport package (like mine) gets a free retrofit(as I got) I would be more worried about the fact that Dinan cannot flash your ECU... (aka msd81, aka, nobody has cracked it yet) |

The XI models are the ones that must have the sport package AND the sport wheel upgrade in order to have an oil cooler installed at the factory. |

Well I am not too worried that Dinan and other tuners cant crack it, yet. Its a matter of time before they figure it out. Where the oil cooler, if it isnt there its going to cost me more money that I dont want to spend getting it in there. But thanks for clearing that up guys.. I am relieved. Im kinda pissed that my Dinan dealer wont honor my usual 20% off plus no tax that BMW gives me on all parts!! My shop has been getting a discount from BMW for years now! |

You needed to get the 18" wheel upgrade plus sport package for the oil cooler. If you ordered it that way and you didn't recieve the oil cooler, then you might get a free upgrade.

I didn't "order" it per se, it was one the dealer "found" for me down at the processing center in NJ...he read me the colors and options over the phone and I said "get it". When he said sport package, I assumed that meant I got the oil cooler, guess I assumed wrong! Grrrrr...they better give me one!!! Forgive the newbie question but the shiny, aluminum cooler in the center of the lower front grill/bumper is the intercooler not the oil cooler, correct? |

Correct. Oil cooler is visible inside the right front wheel well.

my car has the sport package and it didnt come with the oil cooler. When i went to dinan to get the software installed i didnt even know that i didnt have it. So i called BMW of North America nad told them that my car was running hot and that iwas scared to drive it becuase summer was coming around and it was only going to get hotter. So just like that they gave the the OK and 1 day later i went to BMW and they installed the Retrofit oil cooler with all the needed parts covered under warranty. Then i went back to dinan and got the softeare installed. I LOVE IT!

Spent an hour today with the Dinan "Dealer Program Manager", talking all things 335/N54 etc. According to him (and he'd just flown in from Morgan Hill CA this morning), the propeller heads at Dinan cracked the v81 DME 2 days ago. Flashes for all N54 equipped cars will be available in roughly 2 months time (will take that long to design / manufacture new hardware [MIPPS] required for flashing).
