Should I change or keep it

Well gents I've had the f31 320d for a year now paid 20k and now it got a vauluation it's like 12k so I'm thinking about getting ready to shift the f31 either get a different car or go for a older e91 335d touring or a 330d ?

Why? Would do you not want to keep this one any longer?

On that basis you can afford £1666 a month on your next motor..

An e90 is aiming a bit low

You have taken a hit on depreciation already, why line a dealers pocket with another £2-3k, just to trade down? I came from an E90; it was a good car, but things move on - don't go backwards.

Once the new 3 series is unveiled next year, the E90 will start to look even more dated.

If you need more power, get a tuning box or re-map. If it an auto, just stick it in MS. A 320d is fairly swift compared to most other cars on the road.

I thought from what the chap wrote he had lost £20k in year one on a new car, not £8k on a used.

This sounds like one that nobby needs to get in on and give you a swift talking to.

You haven't lost £8k at all. Not if you're comparing your purchase price to a trade in price now. The dealer will take £3k just for the trade in. In reality you might be £5k down in year one taking that out of the equation. The next two years will probably only see it drop by another £5k in total.

It sounds like madness to get rid of a car purely for the reason that it is a car that loses value quickly.....especially if you have already taken most of that hit. You can't get it back now by selling, so I don't understand your logic. It makes zero sense to take a hit on the trade in and another one by paying another margin again on the one you buy to replace.

Sounds like a quick way to lose several thousand pounds more to me.

Blimey £8k on a £20k car is ... a lot! in a year I'd think? Maybe £8k on a new £40k car maybe..but as its an F31 @ £20k I assume its used of course, seems like a low valuation

It's got be trade in valuation now against dealer price at purchase surely? That's several thousand difference even with no depreciation.
