Dinan

I've scheduled my Dinan flash for next week and am wanting some input. For those of you with the flash, how many miles were on your car before you had it done and how many miles have you put on since the flash? Also, any issues of any kind that might make a guy second guess doing it?

As an FYI, my local BMW shop does not have any affiliation with Dinan and the closest rep is 40 miles away. That makes it a little difficult to have work done if BMW decides to deny work due to modifications.

Warranty isn't a giant concern for me but the recent "sky is falling" banter has caused it to settle in the back of my mind.

I had the Stage 2 flash done this past Tuesday, with about 850 miles on the car. I've now got about 970, and the car feels great with no issues (though I haven't floored it since I'm still in the break-in period). I can hear the turbos more clearly now.

I had it done at Dinan in Mountain View, CA, and also had them install their exhaust kit at the same time.

Leased the car with 0 miles on it, has around 1600 now. Only downfall is the face cramps from the giant grin from ear to ear, and the stiff neck from watching the mirror looking for the boys in blue when the right pedal gets a little aggressive.

If I had the choice again, I'd do it in an instant.....

If you want a comparison, consider how awesome the brakes are compared to other vehicles. This does the same complement in the acceleration department.

I'm in the same boat. 120+ miles from the closest Dinan dealer, and my local dealer, who I really like, is very cold towards the Dinan flash. So if something goes wrong, what to do? Too far to take it to the Dinan dealer, who I'd prefer not to deal with anyway. But I guess anyone faces this problem when they drive their car on a trip away from home. Anyone have experiences with how non-dinan dealers treat you?

I have one by me now, they don't care. Its your car anyway, why should they care? Going there tomorrow for oil (forgot to change it. Was pre-occupied with flash issues).

I had the flash done at 15,000 miles, now I have 25,000 miles. No problems whatsoever. Worth every penny IMHO.

Got the stage 2 with 750 miles...have 4500 on it now.....flawless.

I too got it at Dinan in Mountain View. Gotta love being so close to them.

I guess it boils down to time & $. We have some excellent options now, and my thought is that even more options will crop up once the Shark hits the street, or maybe even BMW performance finally offers a fix. Or the tii. So maybe wait a few months and save some $. But life is short, eh? And summer is here!!!

Ok, there is only one downfall, and that's a design limitation of the car.

Those silly excuses for cup holders are insufficient to hold any vessel during hard acceleration. Be prepared to unload them in the passenger compartment.
