Diesel choice

Do you knowledgeable folk know of any preffered type of diesel for my 530d? E.g. should i choose BP over Shell? Or is the wait for my car causing me to think far too much into this?

Put anthing in, this Shell stuff is all placebo, all the diesels I've had did not one more mile on the expensive stuff, save your money.

Anyway here in the UK you will soon be fleeced in towns and Cities for extra costs, bare that in mind, IF your doing less than 12K miles get a petrol.

I'll do less, but not sure the 3 litre petrol would be that suitable for the wife. She will do the miles in it and doesnt need such pace. Thanks for your thoughts on the diesel choice

I've always put Vpower from Shell in our 430d. No benefits to economy, but keeps the engine sounding sweet.

Put in a tank of Esso diesel once and it sounded dreadful. Maybe a placebo, but my wife commented on it too and wasn't aware of the fill at Esso.

Surely these cars are made to run with standard diesel. I ran my 430d for 3 1/2 years with standard diesel. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I will be following the same approach when I get my 530d next week.

I've done 200,000 miles in the last 7 years in 3 litre BMW diesels, always use cheapest supermarket diesel ( which mostly comes from the same supply route as the branded stations as far as I can make out ) never had any problems.
However I always put shell super unleaded in my supercharged XKR, no idea why.....

I was using ordinary diesel for my previous pre LCI 2011 F10 without issues. Then later, I started using super diesel from BP, Shell and Esso. The car seemed to be performing better 'more eager' on Esso super diesel thus I started using it regularly enjoying myself, then the timing chain became lax......
Any connection I don't know. Somehow I still stayed with BMW

Currently on my G30 I use Costco super diesel. It costs less than regular supermarket diesel.
