220d xdrive Winter Wheels

I’m looking for a set of winter wheels for my Inlaws 220d xdrive M Sport. The current wheels are 18”. I know the non M Sport cane with 17”, but doesn’t anyone know if there’s any issue with fitting 17’s from a 1 series? They are 7” wide as opposed to the 7.5” wide of the 220d 17’s. I recall someone saying before to be careful swapping wheel sizes on an xdrive?

For the F45, the correct 17" wheel size is: 7,5JX17 ET:54
You should always look to match the width and offset (and tyre size) for a given diameter to maintain the same rolling circumference of a tyre.
Which 1 series is it? If a newer model (2010 ->) then the 17" is probably 7.5 rather than 7. So then you just need to be concerned about the offset and whether a different offset wheel will foul on the suspension or brake caliper.

Thanks for your reply. I originally hoped E81 wheels would fit, but I’ve since discovered the F45 has a centre bore of 66.6 compared to 72.5 for most other models. Plus the bolt sizes are different too so really my only options are wheels from an Active Tourer- which are thin on the ground!
