Addict needs help from forum...
So I took the first step down the road to my empty wallet. Called Autohaus Frankfurt here in town to see about Dinan Stage II. Very nice guy Eric answered all my questions. $2100 OTD. C'mon guys...anybody gonna try to talk me out of this?
I can see it now..15 posts of...Do it!...Do it! I'm guessing I came to the wrong place for sage financial advice Anybody here have experience with this shop? I know there's a few 335i guys here in my neck of the woods. Not sure if they are on this forum or not. Thanks fellas and have a great 3 day weekend.

Ive noticed lately that the classifieds forum is flooded with Procede's, SSTT's, JBX, etc. and there are new Dinan threads every day. Must be a good thing.

Count your blessings that you live so close to a Dinan source.

Here's how I'm looking at it. 6 year loan on the car is about 2200 days..so basically $1/day for the upgrade if I keep it through that period (a very good chance as I had my Audi for almost 8). I'm not a new car every 3 years person.

Yeah, the $ is holding me back big time too. Plus I'm still a touch nervous that a Dinan tune would affect resale. Do we know for certain that BMW will reinstate warranty after flashing back to stock? Say the tii comes out and I'm feeling dumb enough to buy one after only having my car for a little over 2 years, but I can't sell it with warranty. That would suck. Alternatively, one could try and sell with tune & Dinan warranty.

Don't do it..(yes, this is qualified financial advice). Be happy with your 335 the way it is and hold on to what extra money you have(will get).
Here's what your statements tell me. 1) If you had enough disposable income to spend $2,000+ and it have no real impact to your daily financial situation, you a) would have spent the $2,000+ already and b) this thread would be about how you got the Dinan installed. 2) You financed a car for 6 years which is typically a move done by people to get into a car really can't afford without stretching the payment out over an insane amount of time for a car. You may be paying $300 less a month financing it that way (which is quite often the difference between getting it and not) but on a $45,000 car you're paying roughly 66% more interest just for the pleasure of financing it the 2 extra years. If you can't afford a car at the 4-yrs financed amount, you really shouldn't be getting it. I'm not picking on you, I have to have this same conversation with people on a regular basis. People in America are so far in over their heads right now it's downright scary. Seeing as how you have a shortage of cash on hand (yes, that's what happens when you can spend only 2K and have an "empty wallet"), the last thing you need to do is spend it on something that simply just makes a fast car go faster. Save your money, put in a 6 month CD's or a online savings account with a good interest rate and bank that money for when milk is $5 a gallon, bread is $4 a loaf and gas is $6 a gallon. You'll thank me then. Last edited by Carnage; 05-23-2008 at 02:14 PM.. |

Do it and ejoy the ride. This is a car not a mutual fund.
You lost money the day you drove it off the lot and buying toys for your car never gives you more than pleasure. That is the point, drive it with a smile and enjoy it. |
