Glass roof

When I had a Mercedes c couple some years ago it had a similar glass roof to the x3. After a year or two it started squeaking and creaking and got really annoying.

Are there any issues like that with the X3?

All my other bmws had a normal roof and a no issues like that with the standard opening.

Previous gen had squeaks and rattles after a while, it’s nature of sunroofs. My last car with a sunroof was a forester had similar issues, and started to leak. I personally now stay away no matter how tempting it looks.

Thanks. Is it even an option to not have it?

I was told that in Canada it can be done as a special order ($400).

Ah thanks. And no credit for removal?
It's academic at this point as mine is scheduled to be built week 49
I was just curious.

My 3 years old 220xd has panoramic roof and no squeaks.
I’ve ordered one for my M40i.

the issue usually is panoramic roof which is pretty long and wide. I believe the 2 series is much smaller so could be more reliable. Hope BMW has improved in the G01, too early to tell, would get one in a heart beat if i was guaranteed no creaks and squeaks.

I have a panoramic roof in my 4 year old 335 GT. It has started to squeak. I too hope that the G01 solves this with some of the new composite materials that were promised.

My 2015 X3 panoramic squeaked almost from the beginning. It stopped squeaking when the cover was closed, so that's how I kept it the majority of the time. Squeaks and creaks really bother me. I've kept my G01 roof cover closed as habit.

The sunroof did not squeak in my F25 X3 but I only had that for about 1.5 years. When I ordered my X1 I did not get it. This round for my X3 in the US it's difficult not to get it if you want basic features. I think the only way to get some tech and not the sunroof in the US is to get a 30i M Sport and take the USD 1,200 delete.

Fellow Bimmers could you please help if some one got instruction or manual for how to remove this panoramic glass trim. I break the glass and found replacement parts from china. In my country we have some dealers but the price is so high. I search few videos from Youtube and there is only got previous gen's.

Just the glass or the whole sunroof assembly?

The glass is only held in by torx bolts on the sides

On the topic of glass do you happen to know the manufacturer of the rear glass? I need to replace my broken window or "uninstall" my hillbilly pop and burble tune

Thanks for reply.

yesterday i just found those torx bolts and removed my broken glass and install the new one.
But another challenge came out. I think i cant adjust the exact position of the sliding roof glass. Its automatically trip when its fully close then going back to opened .

Hold the button down for 30 seconds and keep holding while it initializes.
