DIY: Blacking Out Your Tail-lights?
Has anybody ever blacked out there tail lights themselves? I have heard there is like spray paint kit that you can get that is pretty basic to do.
Wondering if anybody has done it themselves... Thanks, Pics please? |

Finally finished and took some pictures of the lights, turned out pretty good. I recommend using this spray paint for $24 rather than paying $400 to get it done.

That looks badass. I don't like the idea of spray painting my lights, though. They might also scratch easily.

If you don't like the idea of spray painting your lights, would it make you feel any better that it comes off super easy with any type of acetone or paint thinner?

Ok, so which spray did you use? Also, does it have a matte feel to it? or is it polished?
did you physically take the taillight out or just use painters tape, etc? |

I used this japanese spray, I will take a picture of it and put it up on here. I got it at Super AutoBac... It kinda depends how you spray it if it glosses or not, it seemed like when you sprayed heavy on it it would be glossy but when it was far away it would kind have a matte look, its hard to describe. I took the whole light out, then put painters tape around the white.
And no I did not put any gloss coat over it, I thought it would be a good idea to, so I tried it and it completely ruined the coats I put on and turned it white, so I had to redo it. |

That looks pretty professional! My local performance shop is charging 225 USD$ to have them spray and wet sand my lights and your results are pretty on par with the sample pictures they showed GJ!
