Bad hpfp. Upgrade?
So my car is taking forever to crank the colder it gets. I stopped putting e85 in it you see if it would help but it still takes 5 or more to start in the morning. Everywhere I'm reading says that that's a sign the hpfp is going and my car just rolled over 95k so it's a good possibility. The question is there an aftermarket upgrade I can do in order to run 100 e85 or should I just go oem?

It moves your HPFP to be belt driven off the front of the motor. It's still an oem pump, it's just spun faster to get the extra volume. http://performance.vargasturbo.com/e...&product_id=43

Just a few things to take into consideration, not saying the hpfp may be going bad but I would rule these things out first.
Battery: Was it ever changed? is it making correct voltage? both non-operating and running? spark plugs: When was the last time they were changed? are any of them fouled up? coil packs: When were they changed last? If never, now might be a good time to change them given the mileage.

For what it's worth, I had really long cranks last winter and assumed it was my HPFP because I was also seeing some related fuel codes getting thrown. Replaced the battery and codes disappeared and cranks went back to normal. Still a bit slower in sub-freezing temps, but nothing like they used to be.

Recently had the same issue. Reluctantly bought a new Battery as the local shop (not BMW) couldn't get a good reading. Hooked up a battery tender, replaced the battery, same problem. Took it in for BMW service and guess what ...HPFP failing. only Difference my car is at 51K miles. May not hurt to drop in to a shop to get the HPFP evaluated.
