when you guys decided to go mtec

i was wondering how many people here wanted to get the mtec but waited for a small accident to happen on your stock bumper before u decided to change to the mtec kit/bumpers.

just wondering cuz had a stupid arguement with a friend and he said thats the dumbest thing ever.

I ordered mine before the car even arrived. Delivery and installation took place about 5 weeks after the car was delivered.

It makes it easier on the pocketbook, that's for sure. That's not a stupid idea at all.

Sorry, but that is pretty stupid. Would it be smart to get the mtech if you do get into an accident... yea, of course. Seize the opportunity, but how do you wait for an accident to happen? You going to plan for it? Do you know for sure you're going to be involved in an accident? Makes no sense. If you want the bumper, get it. If you can't afford it, wait and save. If you happen to be involved in an accident and have the opportunity to get it, for sure. But waiting for an accident to happen just for the sake of getting a bumper... dumb. It almost sounds as if you want an accident.

that was his arguement. but in his arguement he assumed alot of crap and threw it in my mouth such as me wanting to get into a accident. of course im not going to plan it and of course i dont want to get into a accident, but we live in a world where lots of small things do happen such as parking accidents and such. and right now the mtec isnt something i must get or want that badly so i can wait a while. and even if i do wait for a long time where i start to really want it, il just buy it. its just the fact that if a accident does somehow occur within that time period, i can seize the moment and pay less for the mtec

+2 I'd say get it like NOW~

IMHO, the M-Technik kit for the E90 needs a 3D Design (aka Studie) front lip to complete the full look.

well not a stupid idea... its the thought that you don't need to replace any of the bumpers until there's some serious cosmetic damage... thats pretty smart... your friend--not so much.

Yea, thats under the assumption that you want to get the bumper, but just won't because you're waiting on an accident. If the mtech bumper isn't something thats at the top of your list, then not getting it and waiting is obviously the smart move

Me! well, it was accident first, then I looked up M-tech. I swerved from a rodent and ran over a rock and hit a mailbox.. my rear pass door was dinged, front bumper fcked, and my right side skirt fcked. I replaced them with a full m-tech kit.

On a related note...it would seem that I ran over my recycle bin, and I need a new rear bumper to make it look whole again...yes, flame away, I feel terrible enough...my driveway is an obstacle course.

That aside...how much of a premium would you all say I should pay to get the m-tech vs stock? (just rear)

for e92...any ideas??

I just got into an accident and Im thinking of adding the m-tec bumper. Both my front and rear need replacement. Where are you guys finding the M-tec kit at? Everywhere I look says it will take like 5 weeks to come in. The insurance wont cover a rental car that long.

Sounds more reasonable... If you're talking about a front bumper.
