Oil + Filter Change SDrive 20D

I've always changed the oil and filter in all cars I've owned, but I have never owned BMW (nor a Euro car), so I thought I would check in with you (experts).

Is there anything I need to know? Proprietary tools I need?

Type of Oil?

A search for the filter required resulted in this:
http://www.rycofilters.com.au/catalo...ex/part/R2780P
$62 AUD from Repco Australia.

Thanks.

You can check realoem.com for filter and oil part numbers and search online by those numbers.

My nearest Dealer is 300 Km's away and usually drive there to Service mine.
Dealer used to Charge $350 including Oil and Filter OR $100 if you supplied the Oil only. I supplied my own Oil.
Had falling out and now will have Service from town mechanic as I'm not technical.
As far as I know BMW use Shell Oils now.

I use Castrol and their Tech Advisor said it was good for 2 years BUT advised to Change Every Year instead of the 2 Years BMW recommend And Also, the Oil I use and they recommend was better than BMW's were using at that time.

Castrol Edge 5W-30 Fully Synthetic, Part Number OLD 3373545 - NEW 3413348, on the back of the 5 LTR. Container. Important as Suppliers use their own Numbers and it can become confusing.

I usually phone nearest Dealer for Oil Filter and they Post to me. Cant find invoice for price, you could check with your nearest BMW Parts people to compare pricing/delivery.

Sorry for drawn out reply but everything helps.
