e92 rennart exhaust install and impressions
just installed rennart non res DP back exhaust. first off, the install took a little longer than expected. the exhaust didnt center from the muffler section. my exhaust guy had to drill to adjust where the muffler sections intersect and bolt together. the heat shield on the passenger side muffler had to be pushed in a bit too.
also, the muffler tips weren't a tight fit. had to spot weld them. not a major concern, but I thought it was direct bolt on. had to pay an extra 1/2 hour labor though! it sounds really nice done low 2-3k rpm...low rumble and nice when rev matching. above 3k not very loud, but i prefer it not to be too loud and obnoxious. overall happy with it. i am dynoing it in a couple of weeks, but with the IC and exhaust now (and AA AP), car really pulls hard. I am happy with power level (maybe 350-360rwhp). doubt I will go beyond this. |

I like the exhaust but they didnt follow the stock exhaust design and go around the differential, now the piping is heating up the diff... Heres a pic of my custom exhaust, i had the maker follow the lines of the OEM piping...

Glad you're happy in the end!
Like some people above suspected, this was one of the first exhausts (he picked it up from another e90 member). By the way, for those first handful of customers we're offering a replacement in case they weren't able to adjust it to their liking. On the big batch (crossing our fingers that it will be here at the end of this week) we had these issues addressed.

Do you know how hot the differential gets by itself? Really hot.

So you really think that putting 1 pipe on either side of the diff running hot exhaust gas that gets hotter than the diff itself is not going to heat it up more than it already is? The leading cause of wear to trannys and diffs is heat, adding more heat to an already hot situation is a little less than smart...

Maybe if that was a section of exhaust with radiant heat but it's not. In otherwords it's not a simple design flaw, nor is it a critical design flaw as you eluded to.

Not a problem bud! The exhausts arrive here on the 6th, so you have plenty of time to make up your mind. Just let us know sometime before then.
