BMW extended warranty.

Worth it?

Quoted £611 for 12 months comprehensive cover inc. emergency assist and £100 excess.
(2015 F36 435d - 34k miles)

Any worthy competitors?

I renewed mine in December and found the BMW quote to be the best given the age of the car and mileage.

Some people have reported being able to get a deal over the phone but when I phoned them they didn't want to know so your milage may vary.

You can't get a better deal from them direct, better prices are available from dealers but its not the same warranty/company i think.

ps: I have submitted a claim for the cracked radio buttons, lets see how the warranty thinks about it.

get rid of the emergency assist and go for monthlies to avoid the big hit and 60k mile sharp premium increase.

mine was £48.37 pcm on 335d. bizarrely warrantywise was coming in at £71.95 pcm with £7k claim limit and £150ph Labour rate.

Did you know emergency assist is included!, as long as you are more than 1.5miles away from your home address, the extra you pay is for home start & cover for the 1.5miles with in your address.

The part you pay for is a totally different cover. Includes European cover, hire cars, onward travel/hotel, repatriation, lost keys and more.

I see the insured emergency cover as a cheap part of the cover. Even redelivery of the car on a truck has good value for guys like me.

Assist only gets your car to a BMW garage.

Loan car will be for 2 days only, quite shocking to be fare, personally speaking I have cover from my bank so wasn't too bothered about the extra option from BMW.

Why ditch the emergency assist? Has proven to be the most valuable part in my experience. Warranty work with recovery, often means hire cars, for extended periods. The uplift and return of the car simply gives peace of mind, "one call" and it's all linked up via BMW ES.

Cheers all.

I'll see what the dealer can do. Sounds like it's a good call.

Gets extended, if the repair is not fulfilled in two days. I had a car for over 6-weeks under the scheme. Back orders for spares, technical difficulties (they happen), with emergency cover BMW look after you.

I've had my car back with a temporary repair, (by truck), when a failure had a back order issue. Could have had a hire car for the duration, if I'd have chosen to. It was my shout, no issue from BMW.

Two recovery uplifts couldn't be sorted within the two days, both occasions the hire car simply got extended.

In my experience dealers are not involved at the end of the 3-year warranty. You get the details from BMW. I've heard of users getting an extra year of warranty when buying AUC vehicles, as part of the deal.

I had cracked EGR cooler and leaking diff seals done under extended warranty within 2 months of taking out, so it has paid for itself.

It only covers one car and not anything I’m towing - RAC do all that across any car I drive including the trailer and the vehicle I’m towing.

You should get a courtesy car for major repairs anyway - rac will do the onward travel/hire thing if required - again for any of my cars. Once the rac actually sent me home in a taxi because that was the only thing available at 2300 on sat and recovered the car separately to the garage.

i've had 2 years on extended warranty now...
first year - no claims.
second year - £2,500 for a whining oil pump gear,
so was worth it for me....
