I ****ed up my SSTT install!!

So I just installed my SSTT and while I was playing with the TMAP sensor to unplug it, i accidentally broke the little tap that holds it in place
Though it still holds on, but there is a chance that the SSTT might get unpplugged. So I was thinking of maybe wraping some tape around it. Any other ideas?

I drove for about 20 km with the SSTT and I love it. But while driving I got a warning with the car-on-a-lift picture which on the iDrive display said "Increased battery discharge!"
I'm guessing I didn't tighten the nuts on the battery as much as it should've been tightened. Any other ideas as to why there is a discharge?

yea this happens alot... make sure you put the battery terminals on right and tight and from now on there is no need for any disconnecting of the battery, and that goes to most SSTT owners. just put it to sleep via the directions, and put it to sleep when you uninstall it aswell and your golden.

as for the TMAP sensor, the plug has a rubber seal on it which holds it in there tight, but for the time being i would put tape on it, contact Jeff @ Eurobahn, im sure he can get you a good deal on the TMAP sensor itself, i know it something like 80 bucks or so if not less. its a easy job to replace the TMAP sensor, two screws, but removing the air box to get to it is the more involving part, 15-20 min job.

good luck and enjoy the new power, you should be fine with how it is now.

i just ent to turn the car on to see if anything has changed.
The comfort access didn't seem to work so i had to push the button on the fob to unlock the door.
The clock had been reseted again even though i had fixed it after it had been reset due to the battery disconnection for installing the SSTT.
I don't know why this is happening.

i did the red which is the positive. There were two nut bolts on it which were covered by 2 plastic coveres. I poped those up and unscrewed the nut bolts. and took the cable off of the one nearest to the end of the car.

I had the same warning when I disconnected the black, negative terminal. Give it a while the warning will go away. and next time use a USB cable to unplug the sensor, works like a charm.

Sorry you ran into that problem, we highly recommend that people do the sleep method rather than disconnect the battery. Driving for a bit will clear the lights on the dash.

Thanks,

Don't feel bad, I think about 50% of us broke the Tmap clip - you can buy one for 80 or 90 bucks and it is easy to install with 2 screws. Guess it depends how paranoid you are about the dealer noticing it is broken when you take the care in - might be worth the money to have no sign of tampering these days.

Jeff - you guys should make a fool proof tool to sell with the SSTT so all us DIYers stop screwing up our clips!

It all finally went away.

And as for the USB method, I just wish I knew about it earlier...lol

Roadkillrob- Why would the dealer want to look down there for? I don't think if they'd ha a reason for that. I'm just gonna use electrical tape to keep the SSTT plugged into the sensor.

Thanx for the reply guys,
big help

Do not worry man, i broke that 'ish off too, i've been having it for over 3-4 months now and it's been holding perfect, just sometimes whenever u remember check up on it. and thats it you should be good nothing to worry about it.

and oh about the lights....TURN wheel all the way LEFT then TURN wheel all the way RIGHT bring it back and it should all be GONE!...happends when you disconnect the battery my heart almost dropped when this happened. lol' i quickly came in here and someone had told me that trick and it worked PERFECT.

The dealer normally wouldn't be looking there, but with all the hype about dealers asking questions and looking for performance enhancers, a broken Tmap clip is a sure sign of an SSTT.

When the engine is cold...all you have to do is lock it and wait like 30 seconds...then install and it's fine. Same if you unlocked and then locked I think...no effect I believe.
