BMW Service 29.2

Just some info... My local dealer says he removed 29.2 from their computers. I will try to find out why.

Copies of e-mails exchanged...
There is nothing wrong with my car, just wanted to see if they loaded 29.2

Hi Max!

Hey, once I got my car back it felt different. I did some research on
the software update and there is a lot of fuss on this new ECU reflash
version 29.2 ...
Can you please check if this is what they loaded on my car?

Thanks

My car was upgraded to 29.2 at the end of April to fix some ipod issues. However, it seems worse now, it rarely ever resumes playback when I start up the car. The engine seems louder and it idles a bit rough when I start the car. The car also seems a bit slower with more turbo lag. I really wish I never had the program updated. Keep us updated, I may go back in and try to get them to downgrade the program if its not fixed soon.

Maybe they wanted to make Shiv log 200 hours to work only to give another 200 hours of more work. It is a conspiracy.

There is a key error with 29.2, it has inconsistent and wrong oil level readings. They need to fix that.

OMG more info please. I am so unhappy with 29.2 I was considering calling BMWNA and making a fuss. I'm sure I'm not the only one...

Call and make a fuss. I did. The agent told me this is the only way to know what is not working. The more that advise BMWNA the sooner something will be done.

After 29.2 my car is not the same car I bought. If the car I test drove performed as mine does I would not have purchased it......

Does DME81 come with progman 29.2?

Forgive my noobness to this issue... my car's going to be a May production vehicle, so it's got DME81 from what I've gathered. Is this progman 29.2 (firmware I assme?) version then on my car, or was it only an upgrade for the DME80 cars?

If my car will also have 29.2 when it arrives, then does that mean I will probably have the same power issues everyone else is complaining of who got upgraded?

Aaaargh!

I just had a brand new E91 335xi for two weeks - I assume it had 29.2 - if I compare that car to my E92 335i I can tell it is a big difference.

The 335xi was slower and less aggressive when it comes to the engine's way of behaving - it was a smooth, nice and boring car...

I spoke with him in person today... he said they deleted 29.2 for new software, so I asked him why I didn't have the new softw, no concrete answer... I figured he kinda of guessed it was for new software.

Anyway since I was there I also asked if they would void warranty for exhaust/intake or Downpipes he said any of this mods will void your worranty in full!

Can BMW really do this?

Nope, they can't void your warrenty in full, complete BS. They can TRY to deny warrenty work on specific parts of your car if they can prove yours mods adversly impacted the specific part that broke. Call him out on it next time you see him.

This is what I thought... since I don't have the exhaust installed there was no reason to go on about this YET! Just thought I had share his answer...

The generic response to any engine mods, including DPs, intake, etc., is warranty denied. Then the case is evaluated, and 99/100 times cooler heads prevail, and unless your mods are responsible for the failure, you get warranty coverage.

The engine and all of its parts are designed to function as a whole. Let's say you have an aftermarket intake system, and you develop a turbo failure. How is BMW to know that it wasn't the intake that caused the failure? If it's their part, they stand behind it. If it's not, they don't.

Can us V81 DME people get a better progman so to speak.

I have been reading alot about how the newer DME and 29.2 is "boring".

Is there anything that can be done?

Exactly my concern and hence my post above... so when I'm about to take delivery of my car, I tell the dealer I want the firmware on it rolled back to pre-Progman 29.2 before I take delivery? LOL!

I just called a service adviser at my local dealership.

I am awaiting a call back.

If this is indeed the case, I will also call BMW NA.
