Post your equalizer settings
Since equalizer settings are subjective, I thought it would be nice to see what equalizer settings everyone uses and what type of music they listen to. I know very little about music or sound systems so I had to have a friend help me configure mine to my liking. Randomly turning the dials is not so fun. If I had a thread like this to refer to, at least I'd know where to start.
Post: Music type (e.g. 50% Rock, 50% Hip-hop) ...Bass ...Treble ...Bal ...Fader ...S-vol (speed volume setting) ...Music ...Cinema ...80 Hz ...200 Hz ...500 Hz ...1 kHz ...2 kHz ...5 kHz ...10 kHz Let's count the center line as 0 and each bar above as +1, each bar below as -1. Who wants to play?

You can only adjust the equalizer if you have the Logic 7 system, right? Mine just lets me adjust bass and treble.

I run my EQ flat for all music. Bass and treble also. And that´s even though I don´t have the measly Logic7 EQ, but an alpine DSP with 31 band graphic EQ for each seperate Chanel
That and full time correction, fully active threeway X-over with up to 30db/Oct and lotsa other stuff. And yet, the system sounds best with only a 6db crossover on the tweater at 8k, a 12db highpass at 80Hz for the mid and a 12db lowpass at 60Hz for the subs. With x-overs slopes and EQ settings, less is more. You do need fine speakers though...

BTW, fellas, are you all aware, that by turning up every single band, you´re not really changing the EQing at all, but simply raising the volume? Louder allways sounds better, but you could just as well just leave the EQ flat and use the volume control instead...
Pro tweakers NEVER turn any band on an EQ up (overloads pre-amps circuits, amps and speakers and generally causes unharmnoic distortion leading to unpleasant sound), only down and only to cancel out resonances.

I discovered something new on the stereo!
I went back and checked my eq settings and it looks like you can have different bass and treble settings for each audio input. (The equalizer stays the same.) So set the bass/treble on the radio, then set it again (to something different if you want) for cd, then again for aux. Maybe some of you already knew this, but it's new to me. And I don't think it's in that wimpy 3 page manual either.

For example, if you have a 3-band equlizer, if you set it to +3, 0 +3, then that doesn't sound the same as 0, -3, 0. At least it doesn't sound the same to me, but like I said, I'm no audiophile.

Empfehlung für die Equalizer/Audio-Einstellung E65-Fahrer Brian Lewis nennt seine favorisierte Einstellung für das Audio-System: EQ: 100hz: +3 200hz: +6 500hz: +7 1Khz: +3 2Khz: +5 5Khz: +9 10Khz: +10 (die mittlere "Null"-Einstellung zählt bei der Einstellung nicht mit!) Höhe= Setting 5 Bass = Setting 5 Logic7 = Setting 7 Even though its for a 7 series it works well for the E90. |

I think it sounds pretty good with everything flat. I have always found that the better the system the less fiddling it needs with the controls. I agree with the earlier poster that if all you do is increase everything there is no relative change
