N52 Torque Specs

I've attached some general N52 torque specs that I've consolidated, I might add suspension specs later.

I know we can all look them up in TIS and the Bentley manual, but sometimes you don't want to type or search. Especially when you're in the middle of a project with greasy fingers. It's not that you're lazy, you just don't want to take your gloves off or go wash your hands just to find the torque spec for that one bolt... hmm on second thought maybe it is that youy're just lazy.

Either way, hope it helps.

1/15/18 Revised the torque spec attachment for clarity.

Be sure to recycle your used Al bolts folks, just because their one time use doesn't mean we can't be green.

Great job, thanks for doing this. So much agree with you - always nice to have this info handy on your bench for reference before and during a DIY!

Curious, what are you referring to when you reference "exhaust clamp?" The stock exhaust has no clamps that I'm aware of.. it is a one piece welded unit from the header (manifold) back. That said, for the band-clamps used with the BMW Performance Exhaust, the specs are as you stated (45 NM) for the mid-pipes and 70+ for the muffler clamp (according to BMW install instructions).

Thanks for putting in the work, this could be very useful!

Good eye, I probably should have better described the "front clamp" as it is a exhaust support bracket that's clamped around the mid pipes and bolted to the transmission mount with rubber bushings.

Cool cool. Right on man.

LOL, just make sure you guys don't confuse the exhaust hanger to rear chassis with the exhaust hanger to wheel carrier!!! That one extra Nm could be the end of it!! BMW....

I wish I had found this before last weekend. I googled for a few minutes and couldn't find a good list of exhaust torque specs so I winged it. Admittedly, my mid-pipe to manifold bolts are probably sitting at about 50++ ft-lb..

Minor update. Starter has 2 bolts. Stage2 TTY is 90 on the short and 180 on the longer (transmission side) bolt.

BMW E90 (2010 N51) Timing Chain Tensioner Torque

Hi if anyone can help me? I am trying to figure out what the Timing Chain Tensioner Torque setting should be on my daughters N51 engine, 2010 BMW 328i E90. Seems like BMW had the TIS website removed and now we are floating out there in left field. Thanks to all that help.

I believe the cam chain tensioner requires 55Nm (41ft/lb).
