Want to add a trunk sub to full bavsound/bimmertech set up

Hi all, I recently updated all speakers, underseats and the amp to bavsound/bimmertech po82dsp combo on my f36. Still not enough bass for hip-hop music in my opinion. I think a want to add a single 10 or 12" JL enclosure (on of their compact ones) as I can't take much space in the trunk due to my 6 mo son and his massive strollers) I want something in a range of 300-500W. How would I go about connecting it (and a seperate amp) to the existing system? Thanks!

This will not work as you have f32 instead of f30 but same concept.

Our Premium Audio System amp has both remote out (for triggering the auxilary amp on) and a spare analog output channel (via an RCA connector) with DSP filters available at the touch of a mouse.

You'll need to run power and ground cables to the additional amp, a trigger wire, an RCA cable for signal and a bit of speaker wires to the secondary sub.
I would highly recommend going to a upper car audio class shop with nice cars in front of the lot to get good hardware and more importantly a new tune to properly mix the new sub in. A trunk sub will always be the most delayed speaker in the car so additional delays will have to be added to all of the other speakers to time align everything correctly. Then you'd probably want to unload the underseat woofers with a higher cut off point high-pass filter and finally gel everything together nicely, set the gains, eq's and all that good stuff.

As simple as it is on paper if you wan't it to sound proper better hand the work over to a local pro.

I should've done it before, my car is leased and will be returned in a year from now.. Already put a bit too much money in it and had full bavsound system installed 2 weeks ago) These custom enclosures are expensive and not so popular on f36 body. I wouldn't mind getting a compact 12" just to have that deep bass, and I have a decent amp already from a previous car)

Wouldn't Technic's add a sub harness be just what you need here?

No as he already has bimmertech amp, that would negate need for the add a sub harness.

Isn't that just for the under seat ghosts though?

As I understand, the bimmertech amp has a separate input for an additional sub as well as tune option

Hm. Will have to do some digging. I never looked into the amp a ton since the j stall on a convertible is a bitch. And the sound environment is much more challenging - so the point of stop before you get silly is reached sooner.

May make a lot of sense in my wagon though.

I think you meant output While our amp does have a spare speaker level output channel it's not going to be sufficient to drive a true subwoofer. But this channel still comes with a RCA line level output which is perfectly suited to connect a secondary beefier amp for a demanding sub. And you get to utilize the DSP for that additional sub too which is great for blending such a sub into the system seamlessly.

No more like 10 grand..

MusicarNW-LevelX

I have several JL audio Stealth Boxes, 2 in my E70s and 1 in my SRT, they're a solid solution for that price point.

Little update)
I went with a cheap and compact version of 12" trunk sub:
Rockford Fosgate P300-12 Punch 300 Watt Powered Loaded 12-Inch Subwoofer Enclosure https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007AQ2W6W..._H4-AAb1PWV2QS
I must say, this made a HUGE difference in sound quality and loudness! I have a baby and specifically was looking for a smallest footprint 12" sub as trunk space is crucial for me)) I was a little hesitant about this sub being 1-cheap, 2-sealed enclosure. But oh boy, the sound is really nice finally.. I have a full bavsound/bimmertech system, but wasn't happy with the sound at all. Thanks to my f36 body the bass travels from the trunk straight to fill in the car, which is nice too.

I just received my stealth box for only $150 and 50 for shipping. The box is perfect and everything fits perfectly. Paying $500 for a box is absurd.

Unfortunately, if you own an F36 (which is what the OP was asking about), you need to pay around $400 - $500 for a custom stealth enclosure.

Visual Ice doesn't make an enclosure for the F36... I asked.
Musicar NW doesn't make an enclosure for the F36... I asked.
There's a fellow member here (Titan 3) who makes them - $450.00
