are there any gains by adding the borla racing pipes (secondary cat delete)?

will i receive any gains? or sound? will the tone deepen? or are these a waste of money. my exhaust is stock otherwise. but i do have a jb2x.

thanks in advance for the replies,

terry (of juice box) always says that catless dps are worth much more WHP than secondary cat delete which he says are worth as little as 3 - 5 whp.

his opinion is that stock secondary cats are not that restrictive.

edit: just saw u r in california - u got tough emission standards there: good luck

It will definitely be louder than stock. Are you thinking the 2 separate or the briefcase style mufflers?

Dude, I would put that money towards catless DP's. Keeping stock DP's and deleting the secondary piping isn't worth it one bit BUT if you're willing to take the shot for max performance and you can get those pipes for cheapy, buy them and get the catless DP's. It may sould like shit or it may be good. Definitely DP's over those pipes. You can find them for around $500 nowadays.

Save your money and any emissions and/or other warranty headaches (yes it could void your emissions warranty).
Keep the 2nd cats in place.
That's the great thing about the Borla exhaust anyway. You get a moderate power increase but keep the 2nd cats in place.
You'll gain only a couple rwhp by deleting the 2nd cats anyway.

i don't want downpipes though, i know the gains are huge but im not comfortable with them for fear of warranty voiding, and from what i understand they can possibly overspool your turbos. i may be wrong. but appreciate the info regardless. so the pipes arent worth it eh' thats a bummer.
i hear the catless midpipes+ bastuck mufflers= pure sex thoguh.

I agree DPs seem to be too much of a headache...although if power is your thing, then DPs are huge.
I like sec cat delete with nice mufflers for sound and as much as +10 rwhp gain. A more balanced and reliable car with tune,FMIC,exhaust...350rwhp vs 370-380 rwhp with DPs (for those who like dragstrips).

The majority of the power "claimed" by aftermarket exhaust comes from the secondary cat delete, and replacing of crushed piping.

As others have stated though I would just save up for catless DPs

Removing the 2nd cats is breaking the emissions laws and can void your emissions warranty.
It's not just about passing the sniffer test (which you very possibly still would with the 2nd cats deleted) but removing any cats from an OEM car technically voids the emissions warranty and very well could be the case.

DP without a doubt do, and to many dealers will also void your powertrain warranty.

The couple hp gain from removing the 2nd cats hardly seems worth it.
Adding catless DP's is with the power and speed of turbo spool up, but only if you don't give a rats arse about your warranty (or have a dealer that you KNOW for a fact won't flag your car because of it).

We had a customer add the Borla Racing Pipes to his Bastuck system just last week and they really topped off the system. Sound level was sporty and tone exotic. I give them a thumbs up.

I just installed the AA exhaust which removes 2nd cats and I have a hard time believing that I have lost all powertrain warranty? They would have to prove that your modification directly resulted in the fail of the part in question, which would probably be hard to do. How can new mufflers and pipes result in a bad transmission for example?
