M2 Competition (Unofficial)

For those who cannot wait till April or China, here's what you can expect from the M2 competition:
1, Laterally wider front grille.
2, Grille tapers inward on the top corners.
3, Grille is all black.
4, The side slits are also all shiny black.
5, The lower portion of the bumper is more angular and looks wider.
6, There are 3 slits at the bottom of the bumper.
7, Front grille does not distinctly separate into 2 kidneys.
8, There will be sport seats.
9, The silver looks almost like white under bright white lighting.

M mirrors, finally. Looks like you cropped the picture that you had previously uploaded in the M2CS thread — it showed the new design of the grill.

I did.

It is really a video that I have had for some time now but was asked not to put it up completely so cropped it a bit. If you saw the picture from the M2 CS thread you know a little more.

So it seems pretty similar. I wonder if the mirrors can be put on the N55 version or it's like the f80 mirrors where it's not plug and play. Probably like f80.

The Z4 is my real interest though. After my somewhat disappointing E89 experience, I'm hoping the Z4 will be good enough that I can trade my F80 for an Z4+X3 combo in the next couple of years. Hopefully both M models.
The Z4 as does the concepts of the 8er and the X7 have minimal differences in order to accommodate legislation from impact tests and pedestrian safety.
On saying that both engineers and designers have worked to bring the cars as close to their conceptual form as possible. Differences are minor but some would describe them as major.

Of my favourites due this year I would say the all new 8er and the 3er and all new X5. And for existing addition the M2 C(ompeition) S.

The new 8er is in every evidence the Gentlemans Racer. It embodies a classic yet overly modern appearance. Exquisite detailing and more emphasis on performance. The upcoming M8 is now branded under "Bayerische Motoren Werke" so will be absolutley exclusive.

The new 3er is leaps and bounds over the outgoing 3er the F30. Interior uses higher quality materials and finer detailing.
Styling is evolutionary but some design details border on the revolutionary. Not just for a 3er but for BMW. It's signature again will be complete competence.
The ability to offer everything for every customer.

The new X5 is a personal favourite as it returns to its original concept.
Now there is the upcoming X7, X5 no longer has two jobs to fulfill.
It's sportier looking, and more sharper in its outlines such as the headlights and rear lights. The rear quarter light kink is a symbol of this direction as it follows the X1 and X3 and kicks up. The ideas are similar to the X3 but were some elements are rounder on the X3. They are more sharper on the X5.
Interior is evolutionary but again there has never been complaints about this feature. Like all upcoming BMWs they get the latest in display technology and connective features.

The M2 is about adding some extra but slight visual drama to the new elements aimed at a more enhanced experience. It looks slightly meaner, especially at the front but overall appearance is restrained rather than being far too dramatic and venturing into comedy dealt with by the Aftermarket. It works from a small checklist to increase its experience, whilst not major I am told that the feeling is noticeable rather than just an increase in power.
The new M2 is all about a more visceral experience which in the current car is phenomenal. I have not driven it but I can't wait to.

Perhaps it's the angle but, those kidneys are really bulbous, and not in a good way.

I see what you guys see, it looks like the grills have been stretched laterally so that they're wider and closer to the headlights.

Thanks for the pic.Since you have seen the video,is the grill definitely a new design? It doesn’t look as good as the current grill design but maybe it is just the way you have cropped the picture.

It looks like they have designed the front bumper to look even more aggressive than the current M2.What is your opinion of the overall design of the car.Do you think it looks better than the original design?

Looks like BMW is using the same grilles as the new 5er. The problem is that car is (seemingly) twice the size of the 2er. Proportions are off and thus, the otherwise sexy face of the M2 looks goofy. I guess we'll have to reserve final judgement until a full screenshot is released.

The original and the ''normal'' headlights LCI M2 still look more or less like a german BMW, this one starts to look as a chinese variant. No wonder it will be presented at Beijing. Paving the way for the next generation BMW passion, automatic, performance hybrid, FWD based AWD...

P.S. when you see what direction BMW M Gmbh is heading to in this segment, seeing a company like Hyundai creating such an ambitious and aspirational division as "N Motorsport" doesn't seem such a silly idea anymore, all they have to do is wait, BMW is going down to reach them. Just give them a few years and rest assured... the badges will be there, lots of it.

To be honest, I think I like the current design a bit more. The grill is wider laterally and the split in between is not distinct. I actually like the lower portion even more than the older car and I think it looks wider. If they could have done what they did on the lower part and retained the upper part, I think it would have looked much better. Also, the gills are black now.

P.S. If it was up to me I would have shared the whole video and also a while back. I hope you understand.

I can tell you that the color of the mirrors and the car is the same. Ask yourself if the car is white or not.

Was just about to say the same - looks just like the new 5er grille, but reserving judgment.

Gut reaction to that updated grille is very negative. Hopefully looks better once we get to see the whole car.
