Depends. It should be covered but if you don't drive enough the battery can become discharged and then it's not covered.

I'd call about that. If BMW doesn't like to cover door actuators at times, I would think this is way out in left field as it is a wear and tear item. CPO does not cover wear and tear items.

Isn't this the car you don't drive in winter? Is it on a battery tender?

Bmw warrants their batteries for 2 years. After that you're on your own.

When did you start using the tender? I would keep it on the tender whenever you aren't driving or working on the car. When you are working on the car, maybe unplug the negative terminal to disconnect power for safety and to prevent drainage unless you're testing something and require power. Not sure how long they warranty the batteries for but the official battery has a longer than 3 year warranty I believe and after that it is pro rated as it is a AGM battery with 900 cranking amps, so it has a longer warranty and I believe the OEM is Bosch. You can research it online. Sometimes the original battery in the car has a shorter warranty, though, and 2 years through the automaker isn't uncommon. I think Toyota warrants the battery under the same warranty for the rest of the car while Honda warrants for 2 years, not sure what is typical for German brands.

We got 5 years out of the OEM battery. Car is used daily, but can get laid up for a week at a time, business trips, vacations etc. No tender ever used. You need to be careful with a tender & make sure its suitable for an AGM battery.

I use the deltran tender that is bmw branded and it also charges my non AGM battery. There is a new bmw branded charger at the dealerships now that lets you choose between AGM and flooded type. The chargers charge at a lower current and then switch to a lower current charge once it is fully charged to maintain it. High current charges may stress the battery and cause the electrolyte to boil and evaporate.

Unless your charger has an AGM mode, a deeply discharged AGM battery can look like a faulty non-AGM battery due to the lower internal resistance.

With my CTEK charger, the "cold weather" mode doubles as the AGM mode.

Battery is not covered as a stand-alone item on CPO or Elite plans in the USA.

I see no reason Canada would be any different.

I have a 2012 328i under CPO until July 2018. It had the original battery until about a week ago. It was still working fine but out of caution I asked how much to replace when I was in for something else. The dealer put in a new one and coded it for $245. Couldn’t pass that up.
