335i exhaust ?

My 335 has only 900 miles on it and I noticed only the right side tip is the only one getting sooty from the exhaust.I started the car and check the left side and nothing is coming out,is this normal.I can hear a pulse but no exhaust is coming out.And yes I did search.

You probably didn't put in the key words in the search, but that's alright.
It's normal.
During cold starts, the exhaust closes on the driver's side.
It opens a couple minutes afterwards.

Look underneath the rear bumper and you'll see a vacuum operated valve on the driver's side.

Thanks for the info,I found the valve and actually heard it open.What is the purpose for the valve?
