Brand New DWS 06' Tire's and car sliding in light snow

I have an alignment I have four New continental dws 06 Tire's on. Yet today it snows and little and I'm about to do a fish tail in the condo parking lot. Seems pretty odd and I had this car since few years back bought it New. And didn't slide in inches with stock tires. so why is it sliding on me now?

Very puzzled and not feeling confident in the snow today !!!

You really need to have your car checked out, imkash . Your earlier post about your traction control light going off randomly on dry roads should have been your first indication that something is up with your car.

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1460072

in plain English:

Your car is f'd up and it's not going to fix itself by posting here.

Go make an appointment.
and good luck!

Just be safe. Your car shouldn't' be sliding that much. I hope it's an easy fix on Saturday

What size? Did you go wider? Wider tires have less traction in snow.

Don't forget too that new tires need about 500 miles of driving to burn off the tire shipping wax - my car always feels squirrelly with new tires for the first 500 or so miles, then they are broken in and don't have the wax on them anymore.

Guess I have to consider that! They are only like two weeks old.

narrow tires cut the snow better and put more pressure on the road surface which provides better snow traction. Wide tires can spread snow and create a little pile in front of the tire and the wider leading surface can make it difficult for the snow to escape the tires line on the road - this can lead to less traction with the same car and same tires when comparing wider to narrower. It is always recommended to select the narrowest tire you can for your winter set.

I have run tires 275 wide or wider in summer and 215 or 225 wide in winter on previous RWD cars.

Just a reminder there was hardly 1/2 inch on the ground in NYC last Tuesday. Something is definitely wrong with the car. I am on stock Continentals and drove the car in snow (2-4 inches) when there was less than 200 miles on the tires and had no issues. Just a typical lousy traction all season tires provide in snow.

Yeah, I was more elaborating on the earlier comment about tire width for winters- commonly overlooked, not saying the OP doesn't have another issue - I agree he likely does.

Ok imkash, it's Saturday, what did they find? I'm hoping whatever it is that you're covered and also hoping they don't come back with "could not duplicate the problem".

I'm hoping to. Thanks for checking up. I dropped The babe off and just driving the new x3 rn. It drives pretty great.

I wish I could upload a video of the X3 M40
exhaust on here

This is my winter set up. For summer I have track handling with staggered rims and 225 front 255 rear.

Honestly like the 245 square set up a lot more.

I think the 'skinnier tire being better for winter' idea is a bit of a fallacy. There are situations where skinnier can help with heavier snow, but I find it much more common that putting wider rubber down to the pavement helps with grip on plowed/semi plowed but still slippery roads.
Hmmmm

Some just don’t get it.

Survey of 1 says.....
