Restore JB4 passive delete
There is a member on the 2 series forum who has cracked the JB4 app to show you are in a different country.
It worked for my android app. I think its worth a look. http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1400218

The Android Passive Delete fix works! (honest review)
This fix was absolute candy! Just did the reinstall of the JB4 Mobile app. There is a link to a 2 series thread where You can download the file. You download the file in PDF form, rename it to be an APK file. Then delete your current app and open the APK file. It will reinstall the app. Plug into your car and it should have reset any custom stuff youve done to the JB4, and now its tine to set them again.
In the app, You go into the WMI settings and turn on passive delete. It scared the tar out of me because it threw a Limp Mode Drivetrain Malfunction code, but went away. Code was 1194. Said something like "Vehicle not operating at full power. Please visit nearest service center." That's not exact, but it's close. It flashed up, it went away. I deleted the code and checked codes again and it did not return. I did a couple 80% pulls and the car ran fine. I did some WOT pulls and the car ran hard like it always does. All that to say that Passive Delete is able to be selected and works! One more win for the consumer! If you have a JB4 and updated the firmware, you may need this fix in your back pocket if you have a catless DP, or in my case, if you're buying one.

This may be a good reason to pick up a used JB4 since the market is flooded with them and one can be had for fairly cheap.

Of course, the issue is, this clears the real error codes when you need to be aware of something actually failing that can do more damage to car.

On occasion?
And what happens when something serious happens in the time in between? A serious malfunction that can destroy an engine can happen quickly. And warranty would be denied because you kept driving the car. |

I've used JB4 for years with passive and I'm in tune and knowledgeable enough about my car to know when I need to check and see if there's an issue. some folks are ok with clearing every time they start up the car. pick your poison. I'm not choosing for you. do what you do.

also, if a tuner is choosing auto-delete, they are assuming their risk. you've already assumed some risk when you've modded the car from stock. so educate yourself and make decisions accordingly.

Yep. I would only use it to pass SMOG then remove it.

I have found the ultimate solution to this problem without much hassle....The biggest problem that anyone who has down pipes installed is the CEL coming on every 50 miles or so...I looked everywhere to find a solution but didn't like the hex coding option...my solution is very simple and worked like a charm. This is the easiest way to bring the "passive delete" option which is needed to get the down pipe code to not pop up. This option went away when JB4 updated firmware and anyone who updated got left holding the bag with catless downpipes.
I did this at home connected to my wifi but it should work with your cell data as well. You need to trick the JB4 location into thinking youre outta the USA to enable the "passive delete" option.Assuming you are using your phone to connect to the JB4 in your car, download NORD VPN or any VPN. Change your location to another country and then go ahead and connect your phone using the JB4 app to your car. No need to start the car for this...just connect the JB4 to the car go to settings, WMI, scroll down to "passive delete" enable it, click save...you know you did it right bc your four way flashers should blink twice once that happens boom..youre done your car is now flashed for passive delete! You can now enjoy your car without the stupid CEL from catless downpipes! |

I had no idea the "passive delete" feature was only removed for the US market. I'm in Canada, and I've been struggling with this stupid engine light since I installed my downpipe. I would manually go into the JB4 app and delete the code myself just to make the light go away. I just went into my app as you suggested. I got the 2-flash confirmation from the hazard lights, so hopefully it worked. I'll have to drive it for a bit to find out. |
