Speed-camera detector
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a device that will help me detect speed cameras, speed-devices of most sorts to prevent tickets/fines! What does everyone recommend? I remember a few years ago, a colleague of mine used a "Road Angel" but there seems to be quite a few different models of these now and perhaps there are some better devices on the market? What's the best? I am not interested in anything which integrates with SatNav as I already have that integrated in iDrive. Thanks in advance chaps.

Pogo Alert
Quite simply the most complete bit of kit you can buy. I have the pogo drive, which has integrated Nav, which you won't need. Prior to the Pogo unit I had the previous gen product, the Origin B2, which was also fantastic.

I can recommend the Cyclops, I've had one of these for the last 5 years and had a clean license for the same period!

I have a BTST (Beat the speed trap) one and has saved me ONCE I think from a mobile speed trap.
It does pick up all GATSO's and it's fun to speed past these when you know they are not switched on and see other drivers crawling past at 43mph. It's scary at first but I trust it now. Not sure if it is working properly, but it's absolutely brilliant at detecting automatic door sensors. It goes ballistic during a trip to the local retail park or any city centre. I keep it on all the time....'just in case', but I hate the fact it's not hard wired in and the cigar lighter lid is permanently open. But I know if I remove it I am certain to get 3 points the next day PhilR |

Be very careful relying on these devices, the older laser system took longer to aquire a lock on speed but the new ones can get a measurement in 50mS.
You can't react fast enough to stop you getting a ticket |

I have the a Road Angel Professional Connected which is very good although it is quite bulky. It is constantly on-line downloading updates, gives very few false warnings and has never missed a camera.

If you use an actual laser/radar dector beware as the law is changing to make these illegal, get pulled over with one and you might get a ban.
GPS systems will still be legal though, if you have pro nav then you can add speed cameras onto the DVD and then you see their locations on the nav screen. That doesn't give any sound though, I fixed that by putting an old tomtom 500 in the glovebox using external antenna with same camera locations, whenever I get near a camera that screams and you see the camera on the nav screen. Best bit is there are no cables, boxes etc to deal with, all hidden and fully automatic |
