M240i Midpipe Question
Does anyone know if the midpipe section on an m240i is clamped or its welded? I cant seem to find definite answer. Some say its welded all the way. Ive also heard its clamped at both ends (after cat and before muffler) and now Im being told its only clamped after cat but welded after. Does anyone know for sure or have a diagram?

It's clamped after the cat and is one solid piece all the way to the back. You would need to cut at the dimple just before the muffler.
EDIT: The above statement is applicable before any mods. After that, the midpipe would clamp at both ends. No fitment or leak issues to date in my experience though it did take some time to align properly

It’s clamped at both ends, but my shop recommended a weld on the exhaust end due to the design of the pipe fitment to ensure no leaks.

Clamped on the downpipe side and one piece all the way to the back
If you are only replacing midpipe and keeping everything the stock, you will need to cut it one one side and use clamps to reinstall the aftermarket mid
