Extended warranty or tire protection?

I've always leased but I'm planning on buying the new F90 which is currently sitting at the port for delivery soon (Hopefully)

Any thoughts on extended warranty, wheel and tire protection or other services? Are they usually not worth it?

Don't know about the roads where you live, but I always get wheel and tire insurance in Michigan. Best deal going. I typically pay about $1500 for 3~4 years on my BMWs with 20" wheels, for a zero deductible plan which also covers my winter set and any new tires I might purchase. It costs less for other cars.

I usually get wheel and tire insurance with my leases. It really paid off with my e92 M3....as I had 3 tires replaced free of charge in a one year period due to nail or screw damage. Plan pretty much paid for itself..and then some.

Yea I've gotten the wheel and tire protection on my leases because there's tons of potholes and I'm bound to replace. But I was beginning to wonder if it's cheaper just to replace as it happens? I haven't had it happen more than 2 times on any vehicle in the past (knock on wood)

What about the extended warranty now that the new BMW warranty is not as good as previous ones. Is that usually a waste too or worth it?

Valid point. I had the insurance on my F80 M3, and did not use it at all...but as I said on my e92, replaced 3 tires with it. Crap shoot. I will most likely not get it this time around.

Crap shoot for sure .... I usually swap out the wheels so it’s a moot point for me.

I never purchase any extended warranty, protections, etc.
They are just making money out of us of extra protections.
On lease cars, extended warranty not worth it.

Drive carefully, that's should do it

Purchasing an extended warranty on a lease would be moronic, and not debatable at all.

Tire/wheel protection, especially for a lease...is up for debate.

I would definitely get the wheel and tire protection package...

As for the extended warranty…You can actually wait Until The factory warranty runs out And then purchase it later..

If plan on keeping the car beyond the standard warranty period - get both if roads are bad! Or, just get extended warranty if you live in an area with good roads,....but then, if you travel to an area that has notoriously bad roads,....????,..it's your call! So, again, if you don't plan to keep the car beyond the standard warranty period,...just go with tire/wheel warranty.

I got this for my wife's X5(M-Sport). When I was on a business trip, she hit a proper San Francisco pot hole and blew one of the tires. She took it to BMW and they replaced that tire and two worn down rear ones that showed extra wear and tear at no cost. Package paid for itself.

Interesting that they would replace normally worn tires, as that is not part of the coverage. It usually just covers tires damaged beyond repair, or damaged wheels due to pot holes and such (not curb rash).

Guess you got lucky, as normal tire wear is definitely not covered.

I got the tire and wheel insurance because I put on HRE custom wheels and their value was higher. Not sure what I'd do if I kept the OEM wheels.

I think one of the posters is referring to the extended maintenance not warranty.

I would 100% get the maintenance on any M car or bmw (only thing not covered is ceramic brakes).

I would in NYC 100% get wheel and tire, but its no where near $1500 they have went up a lot as of late.

Extended warranty can always wait until 4yr/50k for that decision.
