New M5 10.9 sec 1/4 mile!
For all you BMW naysayers out there, the new m5 looks like a return to past glory: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...m5-test-review
Not only are the performance numbers staggering, but they have also brought back the steering feel and feedback. Building on this M momentum, I'm also looking forward to the M2 Competition which should be officially announced this spring. |

0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds
1/4 mile in 10.9 seconds at 129 MPH Those are very respectable times. I can't wait to see what the Competition Package brings to the table. |

That's beyond respectable, a 3.6-4.0 sec 0-60 is respectable, 2.8 is ridiculous! That's 911 Turbo S territory..

5-cylinder RS3s are running 10.5 seconds without much effort either. So yes, personally, I find the times respectable, especially considering that's it's bone stock. I'll be really impressed once we start seeing Competition Pack numbers, and Stage 1/2 tuned numbers. |

I'm sure if I was driving a slow BMW, and haven't been watching 1320Video and TRC videos on YouTube then I would be extremely impressed. |

129 trap is absurd. Comp pack will certainly surpass 130.

I wonder if it's related to the fact that the M5 becomes RWD only after a certain speed. No AWD loss and 600HP. Does the Mercedes do the same?

Been proven that MB and BMW underrate the engines quite a bit.

Car and driver always does a correction for temps , which is an inaccurate process on modern turbos that already correct boost for conditions ( .ie. power doesn't change over a wide margin ) . Actual measured trap was likely 127, which is what other mags have gotten . The delta between it and the Benz is due to the F90 weighing nearly 300 pounds less . I'm a little disappointed in the skid pad performance of the F90 being worse than the Benz .98 vs 1.0 but glad the car " feels" more balanced on the street than before .

Skid pad is important, but a small piece of the handling pie. Turn in, transient response, etc etc makes the package. Actual track tests will tell the tale. Hopefully, same day shootouts!

Owning a GT350R that's does 1.1 def raises expectations lol . I did expect it to do better than the E63S AND any SUV though given the lighter weight . In general skid pad numbers do correlate to track performance but I agree not necessarily to normal driving enjoyment/ feedback , character , steering feel etc .

530 xdrive does 1.05 according to fastest laps. Suprised m5 doesn't best that.

I wouldn't use a wiki page as a resource . I'm referencing car and drivers test numbers on a 300 foot skid pad I.e constant not peak G's obtained . I promise you a 530 doesn't come close in the same test . Just checked it does .91 G's .
