Average mileage before needing brake pads/rotors?

How many miles are people getting in general before needing brake pad/rotor replacement? Trying to price out the maintenance plan on a 2017. Since the maintenance plan no longer includes brakes.

It all depends on how thexar is driven. Obviously, track days will eat pads and rotors. Highway miles are typically the easiest on these items.

I have almost 70K miles on my 228i and have done 1 Track day and lots of high speed stops. Pad are just now almost gone. Non M Sport brakes though.

Just based on conversations with a few different service advisers on a few different BMWs, 70K seems to be about the right number.

the counter doesn't really measure anything .... it's just an estimation... it will only go off when you wear one of the sensors and it will show 1000 miles left

Also depending on what SW version you are running the counter could be totally fucked - there was a major glitch that they rectify with an update.

GF said time for brakes on her last car but it would have been outside free replacement window, so I drove with 2 feet for a week. Once they reflashed the software we had another 30K to go before replacement even after my funny business.

I'm going to measure everything myself and see if my pads and rotors are still within spec and then replace them if need be.

Be advised there’s a thread about brake rotors over at Bimmer Forums. The techs swear by Zimmerman rotors as they seem to be the only brand that’s made only in Germany. Many brands, including Bosch, are made in China. The quality isn’t very good. I highly recommend rotors from the dealer or Zimmerman rotors from a reputable vendor such as fcpeuro.

Changed out the pads and went with stainless lines as well. Didn't change out rotors as they were well outside the replacement measurement. So far there's a lot more brake dust as to be expected with performance pads. I'm going to keep an eye on the rotors since the pads are more aggressive now. When the time come I'm going slotted rotors on all four corners.
