Quickjack: which model?

I'll be ordering one soon and leaning towards the BL-7000SLX. This should fit under the stock height e90 when i did the measurements, but was wondering what people have or recommend. How does it fit under lowered cars? Anyone buy the SLX extensions and are they worth it? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Ooh, Ooh! Me, too! I plan to order one very soon. I would want it for all of my cars - 2010 328xi wagon, 1999 C5 Corvette, 2013 Toyota Venza, 2003 Subaru Baja. Sort of had settled on the BL-5000SLX, but interested in hearing from those with experience.

I'm looking at the quick-jack too. I really wanted a 2-post, but my concrete is too thin. I'm wondering if the quick-jack would lift high enough to do transmission work or drop the engine on the subframe.

Glad there's some interest. Did a lot of searching but didn't find much with BMWs and nothing on BMWs with the 7000slx. My thought is get the 7000slx and can always get extensions if needed. Can always go bigger, but not smaller.

I looked at the QuickJack and ended up going with the E-Z Car Lift instead:

1. Access from all sides. The QuickJack has pistons on the sides, which means you only get access from the front/back.
2. Simplicity. It isn't hydraulic, all it needs is greasing of the worm drive.

I haven't tried to drop the transmission yet, but it has a max height of 26", which (I hope) will be sufficient for the trans + transmission jack.

The E-Z car lift looks very good!!! I like the fact that it doesn't use hydraulics which eventually leak. A screw jack is maintenance free.
How much was it in CDN shipped to your door?

The ez car lift does look bery good, but only lifts 4,400lbs? I plan on getting a Q7 or x5 in the near future so it might be pushing it. Love the fact that it doesnt use hydrolics!

I have the 7000 and love it. Overkill for the e92, but I also use it on my truck. I didn't have it fully raised in this pic because I was only swapping wheels, but when fully raised, I can roll around underneath on my creeper, comfortably. I'm lowered on coilovers and have to drive my front wheels up onto small 2x4's to get the quickjack to fit underneath.

Can someone take a picture of where these type of jacks make contact with the car.

@mecheng77 : I picked it up second hand for $1200. If I bought it new, I'd probably get it shipped to the border and pick it up in the US, since freight shipping typically costs $$$ once you ask them to cross a border.

I bought these, so it can lift from the factory lift points. https://www.amazon.ca/Universal-Coop...w+polyurethane

@A4Andre : You're probably going to have to go hydraulic, as I don't believe the EZ Car Lift is well suited to large SUVs/Trucks. There are people who have lifted larger vehicles on garagejournal, but I don't trust getting under a 2800kg veh when the mfg only specs it to 2000kgs. Thats 40% over rated capacity!

I made lift adapters from old hockey pucks. Being a Canadian, you might have some lying about!!

I too would like a QuickJack but I don't know if I could get myself underneath it (I'm not small) and still have room to do anything there.

I do know a thing or two about jacking adaptors,
Here are the custom pieces I made

I just wasn't sure how the adaptor locks into the jack but I guess it doesn't, it just sits on top of it.

How do you know your concrete is too thin? The Rotary SPA-010 requires just 4 inches of concrete at 3,500 PSI. Most garages are poured with a minimum of 4 inches.

My garage floor is as thin as 3 inches in some places, and cracked. The concrete guy was a complete moron and poured a 40x40 driveway section in one wafer thin slab, paved around trees, etc.

I'm seriously considering having a section done in 5000psi concrete so I can get the maxjax MX6. My garage is only 9.5 feet high, so my options are limited. I need decent lift height to do transmissions, rear main seals, engine swap, etc.

If you are staying in the house, then you're right cut the old pad say 12 feet by 6 feet and pour in 5 inches of 4,000 PSI concrete. If you can, then cut out the ceiling about the same dimensions and raise it up to 13 feet. You could then get a full sized lift in there. I have a Rotary 10,000 pound lift. You'll kiss yourself for getting a real lift that every day. Rotary used to make a 9 foot lift, I think Bend Pack still does. If you can tolerate driving over a hump every day to park, the 9-foot lift fit with the hydraulics going across the floor.

Are you planning on lifting a large SUV like an Escalade ? If not, the 5000 would do the trick

You're right, definitely overkill and heavy as hell!! I figured go bigger as long as it fits and do plan on getting a Q7 or X5 at some point. Assembly was quick and easy. No leaks from fittings. And most importantly, no regrets.

Pics?

Do you bungie cord them? Or did make a contraption out of 2 x 4's?

Reviving old thread, but I have been wanting Quick jack for a while now. I want a model that will lift both 335xi and Dodge Challenger.

Question: does the lack of side access pose a challenge? Is it annoying to have to enter from the front or back? I am aware that it makes transmission work difficult, but can you drop the subframe? Could I install a new turbo while using Quick jack?
