Unhappy Recall rear spoiler? Missing screws

Anyone hear of a recall that started today on the rear spoiler missing screws? My dealer said they could not release the car to me as this just came over the wire.

huh. I just bought mine 2 days ago. they said nothing of the matter. not a big deal but I'd rather go ahead and call to get it all buttoned up if need be. 2 screws are hardly something to worry about, I'm sure they'll do the service on the one you're eyeing and then sell it to you shortly....

Thanks for the info confirming. My car was delivered and sitting on the lot for a few days until I could pick it up and they called and canceled the delivery Saturday morning. I was a little concerned due to a large storm that just came through with trees down everywhere thar something had happened to the car besides a few screws thar couldn’t be quickly verified if it was or was not truly an issue.

My Nov '17 build is not part of the recall per the bmw website.

How do you forget screws? (slight sarcasm here)

It affects possibly all BMWs built up to Feb 23 2018. It’s not showing on the Bmw vin check yet.

More frustrating when reading the tech note all they need to do is peel back the moulding and see if there are 4 screws there or not... if they are there deliver the car to the buyer.

My car completed production in the second week of Feb and according to the VIN lookup tool is NOT affected by this. So it seems they corrected this in their manufacturing process by then. Any car with a prod date before that may be affected.

I remembered that this was open and decided to check the BMW website.

My X3 is now listed.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM
This safety recall involves the rear spoiler which may not have been attached according to specifications.
SAFETY RISK
If the rear spoiler were to detach from a moving vehicle, it could become a hazard to other road users, and increase the risk of a crash.
DESCRIPTION OF REPAIR
The rear spoiler will be inspected and, if necessary, reattached according to specifications.

"remedy available"

now if they could get my e90 fixed......

Correction... although when I looked up my VIN on BMW's site, it did not list me as affected, my salesman called me and said I was.

And even though I brought it in by 9a.m. I still didn't get it back for 24 hours, just for them to confirm that in fact all screws were present

So I called my SA and he tells me that in typical BMW fashion they don't have the screws available even though the bmw website says parts are ready.

I trust the SA - straight shooter - even though I purchased out of State.

He said if I checked the spoiler and found it to have play or it appears to be loose we could get the X3 in service and put me in a Loaner.

Mine also is involved in the recall. But since I'm quite familiar with the R&R of the spoiler (from having it changed twice because of a defect), I removed the inside center panel like the service manual states, and checked for all 4 screws. And they are in place.

Yea, I'm not worried.

Thing would have flown off by now.

When I made an appointment for this recall today they made it for 2 recalls:

Repair Services:
13 Diagnose Fuel System - Check fuel feed line 13 80 18
51 Diagnose Body Exterior - Inspect or install the rear spoiler screws if necessary 51 80 18RC

When I called back they told me there is a second recall for this fuel feed line.

Same here - when I made my appointment on Monday they mentioned the fuel feed line recall. Hopefully it will all get done when I bring it in on Monday.

I notice both of you folks are up North.

I just checked the bmw usa website and my VIN only shows the spoiler. I will have to check/ ask the SA about this fuel other fuel feed line..

The Canadian Vin lookup also only shows the spoiler recall.

Did they mention if it’s an M40I only issue for the fuel line?
