Will the M340 have an M Performance Power Kit?

I know that the M340 is basically a 340 with the power and sound kit already added. But will the M Performance division offer another tune like the mppk . That could get it to about 390hp/406lb ft, now that would be serious market competition. There is always Dinan and other aftermarket tunes but I would like to see real strong numbers for the new body .

What without an aftermarket tune now competes with a 340 MPPSK?

Exactly and that’s why they need to keep it that way.

Some of the competition are really improving their performance and the gap has been closing.

No compact family sedan runs like a stock MPPSK 340i. Not even close

Hoping the exhaust at least sounds like the X3 M40i.

The Mercedes Benz AMG C43 puts out over 360 hp. 0-60 in the low 4’s. Audi S4 puts out 354 hp, low 4’s 0-60.

C 43 362 hp 4.6 0-60 $53k
C63 469 hp. 4.0 0-60. $66K
C63s 503 hp. 3.9 0-60
Depending on how much equipment you get on a BMW 340 with the mppk you can be within the price range of the C63 Mercedes .The c43 looks to be close but I have not driven it. The 340 with the mppk is 355hp and the C43 is 362.

Options on the 340 can put you over the edge and land you in M3/MB C63 territory.I still would prefer the M in my own opinion but the average buyer might stray.

385 now. They just announced bigger turbos on the C43. The 340 with the power kit has been throwing down numbers of 4.2-4.4 0-60 with xdrive. Dynos have shown that it's putting down about 360hp at the wheels...

Suck it Mercedes. BMW beats you with only 1 turbo.

dual scroll turbos are better, no turbo lag and 0-60 times aren't everything either, everyone knows bmw is a driver's car and mercedes is a luxury cruiser with some AMG models having a big engine and great straight line performance, but not really a driver's car.

I'd probably opt for the 340i given those choices just because you can get a three pedal version.

Spot on. Love the agileness of the BMW. I'll sacrifice a bit of power of handling.

Do not worry; The 340 with the MPPSK is still quicker than the C43.

Again: this is incorrect. The engine will still belong to the B58 family, but it won't be the same one you currently see in the 40i models.

Same family not a significant change

Same blood line is a relative, anyway you look at it.C43 will up to 384 hp and where does that leave the 340. A c43 is a Mercedes not necessarily considered close in performance to the 3 series and they have a product already rolling with more power.

If the b58 is close to being maxed out then a new platform is a good thing when a new body gets introduced.N54 were easier to tune than the N55,maybe the B58 is where the N55 is.

Having owned a Few N54’s,N55s and and an S55 I can speak from many years of ownership experience.Norhing really gets dramatically different until a new platform is introduced. The change is not always better but other than a mppk or similar tune you don’t really get that much more performance .

Look at the three generations of S63 as an example of how much difference there can be in implementations around the same core.

Not sure if you have followed the upcoming model leak thread but the new M340 is expected to be rated at 380hp

A theoretical MPPK for that motor would have to push into the low 4s if they even go down that road.
