panic braking and gauge cluster screen display

Today, I was in a situation that I had to brake as hard as I can. i was on a winding country road and a woman from the other direction crossed the center line half way. I stomped on my brake and lay on the horn. she corrected and waved to apologize. I then everything went back to normal when I glanced down on my gauge and the display switch to normal temperature, mileage, information etc.

I did not catch what was displayed before it was gone. My curiosity is killing me and I tried a few hard braking a few time, nothing. anyone has any idea?

Collision avoidance system kicked in. You should have heard a bunch of noise from the system also.

The thing is... I don't have executive package. Guess I'll never know.

Could've been an ABS light or something related to braking/traction

Collision avoidance or ABS, most likely.

I found the collision avoidance waring function is pretty lame.

Could be traction, also, if you stomped your brakes while turning.

ABS would also send vibrations through the brake pedal

It depends on what driving aids you had turned on. most likely it was ABS.

I noticed another thing about emergency braking. If I emergency stop from 80km/h to a stand still. that is, stomp on the brake hard. the hazard blinkers come on.

is there any way to turn this off?

That's what I thought until I almost killed a deer the other night.

Works like a charm.

You both are right. Those active helpers are reportedly/admittedly inconsistent/unreliable. To drive safely assume you have none.

Collision avoidance system.
Air bag.
