Ceramic controls on 2018 BMW M5?

I don't see them in config. Will BMW allow special order of these?

Not an option in the US - only on first edition.

Can't be a forced option like in other countries? I loved the ceramic in my wife's X5. Why wouldn't they allow ceramic in USA and especially on the range topping M5!

Probably the same reason the M performance exhaust isn’t available.

I’m assuming the 2019 MY will have both options available

I think I might wait until new MY then when it is available. The non-ceramic feels so cheap compared to the ceramic especially after you get used to it. If I'm paying $120k for a loaded up M5 I really don't want plastic controls

Also hoping for some other wheel choices and Caramel or Tartufo leather option. I thought the leathers were just delayed but now maybe not an option either on 2018.

I think the M Sport Exhaust and Ceramic Controls are exclusive for the First Edition cars in the US right now. BMW USA is probably thinking if people can just option out the exhaust, controls, and things like that, no one will actually buy the first edition

My car actually has ZBTQ Tartufo specified, and it is currently scheduled for week 13 production according to the Genius hotline. Let's see if that actually happens. If there are delays, I'll switch to Aragon.

What exactly are we talking about with the ceramic controls? Does this option just swap every single plastic button on the dash and doors out with a ceramic material?

To follow up on this, my car went into production today and I have a VIN, so I assume Tartufo is probably order-able despite it not appearing on the configurator online.

Was at dealer. Test drove demo. Very nice. Had rep check and order system did show those leathers available. Not sure why bmw has not added back to configurator yet

Gotta be able to buy the ceramic controls after, I would think. It would suck and would be a pain in the butt. Oh yea and cost some money

They are available in the UK builder also. But not the US...

I just submitted a build but forgot this detail. Grrrrr...

How can I get ceramic controls? Retro? I have ceramic controls now and not sure I'll like going to aluminum, they look and feel cheaper to me.

Any ideas?

You can see pics of the F90 ceramic controls in this listing.

It really adds a beautiful look and feel to the interior.

Not an option in the US for MY2019. And I for one am happy not to have them. They are a pain to keep looking clean...finger prints/dirt, etc...the ceramic controls are a magnetic for all of them and look great when they are clean...but seldom is that case.

The trim strip is so small I'm not sure how you could even notice a fingerprint? I only ever notice prints on the face of the iDrive controller, which I'm pretty sure is the same as the regular knob.

My Brazilian BMW M5, has the ceramic controls as standard as seen by the Vin Decoder for my Vin.

Code: S4U1A Ceramic appliques for controls

To be honest don't think it is anything special, so I don't see all the hype surrounding it. Besides the E63S has cheap plastic controls (if you want a counter option LOL).
