No M5 for me yet - Damaged at port

My M5 (Production completed 1/12, Arrived at Baltimore Port on 2/7) was scheduled for delivery for this Saturday but just received a call from the dealer that the car has been damaged (they think it's been dropped accidentally during loading or something) at the port and can't be released. This car is no longer available.

With limited stock of the M5s and me not wanting to compromise on the specs I've ordered, what are my options?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Reorder and have the dealer/ Bmw NA give you a massive discount or have them locate a car that is close to your specs and get a large discount

What did your build look like?

How long would a reorder take?

Mine was Alpine white/Black interior. Bi-color 20", Exec Package

Nothing yet. What should I expect?

I've actually been using their "courtesy vehicle" for the last two weeks since I did sell my car expecting it to be here by now...

Reorder and get the exact spec you want. Patience is key. Take that massive discount.

Best advice so far, IMHO.

I'll keep you all posted on what options I'm presented with from the dealer when I meet with them tonight. They are also in discussion with BMW NA trying to sort out how to best approach this situation.

At the end of the day, I can wait but someone has to pay for my wait especially given the fact that I don't have a car currently.

I think they will either locate a car with similar specs for you or offer more discount on the reorder. Ask them to throw in some M performance parts while they're at it.

Best of luck ! They should step up and locate a car that you like and get it done.

:::Update:::

We did find a car in another dealer that is very close to the specs I wanted but if we can't get the car, I will be placing a new order in their April slot.

BMW NA has offered to pay for my first two payments of the vehicle. I then asked if I can do 1 year finance with 0 down and that was denied as they mentioned something "reasonable in the $1500-$2000 monthly payment range. LOL

The dealer is also continuing to provide me a courtesy vehicle which is super helpful.

Overall, very disappointing situation but I have to say that this dealer and their management has been super helpful. I'll need to wait another 2-3 months so I should stop coming to this forum for a while so I don't get so sad seeing all the pictures of the beautiful cars delivered.

Back to drinking and waiting. Cheers.

Love the way you think! 1 year, zero down!

If you have to reorder, I would tell them to create another production slot. Immediately! This is on BMWNA and they need to step up. I'd be sending a certified letter to NJ.

I got in the week 14 (first week of April) production slot.

In mean time, we're looking at few options at other dealers that have similar specs to what I previously ordered.

First two months payment free
Courtesy vehicle until M5
Possibly 2 months of waiting
Not the end of the world

But everyday is going so slow...

Sounds reasonable and I would be happy with this outcome as long as i have a production number in hand in the next 1-2 weeks.

Sorry to hear about your car trouble. Rick Hendrick BMW in Charleston, SC has a white/black M5 w/ black wheels and tinted windows. MSRP 115K. Saw it on Saturday. Give them a call if you wish and ask for John Fulp.
