What are tuners doing about
notifying their customers about version 29.2 ???
The reason I ask is I know there are people who've bought PROcedes, JB's, SSTT, and other tunes that DO NOT come onto this forum. Those customers will NOT know about the 29.2 flash upgrade. They will surely know they need to remove their PROcede/JB2/SSTT before they go in for service. But what they WON'T know is that if they have their ECU's "downgraded" to the apparently terrible 29.2 flash, they can't put their tune back on without the ECU logging it and they potentially losing their warranty. So I was curious if the tuners are contacting their customers about this? |

Thats a good question Michael. I would think they would do their best to inform their customers but at the same time it is mostly the consumers responsibility to understand what they are doing to their car....

Shudder to think what kind of consumers can know what a tune is, what options exist for the N54 and then disclaim knowledge of v29 et al. e90post ftw.

I've seen the same claims, but don't recall Eurobahn stating that it's undectable in the FASTA data that NA reads but that dealers don't see. Could be wrong, tho.

There are a lot of 335i owners who are possibly into modding their cars and want more power, but don't frequent this board often enough (or really at all) to know about v29.2 Some might of joined to find out about the tunes, then picked the one they wanted, ordered it, followed the video/instructions to install or remove them and then went back to their regular life, not wanting or needing to come back to this board, unless they have an issue. I have a friend with PROcede v1.47 who never wanted to even upgrade to v2 since he was plenty happy with v1.47 I also know someone with a JB2 who doesn't frequent this board or any board. It might be wise (if the tuners get email addresses when they take an order from a customer) to send a warning email about v29.2 It would be also a good "upgrade" sales strategy for Shiv for the V3 that has it's apparent undetectability. As long as they don't think the email was a sales pitch for the upgrade with no validity to the v29.2 warning. |

the real kicker is these cars are mostly equipped to be obd-3 like. That bmw-assist? Guess what it can transmit data. It may be doing that already. What does it cost bmw to upload the logs once a month? Not much considering how much product feedback(telemetry) they would get instantly..

We are going to have to wait until people with tunes (any tune) start taking car in for service to see if, or wich tunes are really undetectable.
