break pad install question

hello all,

i recently installed new break pads on my zed, old one were really worn and the break pad warning lights on the dash was on. Bought axxis ultimate break pads for all four wheels and new break pad sensor. total cost me only $122.00.Install was easy on scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being hardest i'd say this project was a 4. Okay install looks good but the light on the dash is still on - does anyone know how to reset this break pads lights.

I am not sure if you must reset the light?! I installed new pads and rotors last week and the light went off automatically. Did you install both sensors correctly?

The sensors are activated by a small wire that breaks an electrical connection on either the front left or rear right set (or both) when the pads wear. You will need to replace the sensor(s). They are not very expensive.

That, or set the ignition to the ON position. Do not start the car.

Wait 45 seconds, the system will reset the brake sensors.

Its brake, not "break" (just so you know)

A guy at the parts departement told me I can re-use the brake sensor if it isnt damaged, but logic tells me if it is making contact with the rotor it is probably damaged. Is this true? I need one for each side right?

Brake sensors are located on driver front and passenger rear.
If your dash brake wear warning light is on then you need a new sensor.

After nearly three months of use, are you satisfied with the Axxis pads ?
I'm still hesitating between Axxis Deluxe and Hawk HPS (or sticking with OEM...).

Hawk HPS will give you better brake feel than the OEM pads and offer less brake dust.

I personally went with Hawk Ceramics in the rear with OEM rotors.

In regards to the brake sensors, yes there are two, but if you would like to eliminate them as you have no need for them, simply cut the wire, you will find two wires inside the protective sleeve, splice the two wires together and wrap it up with electric tape. Then zip tie the bundle of wire out of the way of any moving parts. Voila, sensors disabled.

But if you are going to disable your sensors, please make it a habit to inspect your pads when you do your oil changes or just give them a quick glance every now and then.

very much liking the Axxis brake pads, i have significantly less brake dusts - so less cleaning of wheels.

For a dual-use setup, I personally would suggest the Fedoro 2500s front and Axxis ULTs rear. Also make sure you're bedding-in your pads after changing them.
