How do I make the voice activation work?

I have saved all the voice records to the phone, not the sim card.
Press the face button, say "Dial Jill"{for example} and the voice agent says "I'm sorry" then I try again and finally the agent hangs up.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA

I believe the manual says you must say "DIAL NAME"
THEN say the name after promted for it
Then confirm name with "YES"

So say
"DIAL NAME"
whait for the promt then say
"JILL"
then confirm name with
"YES"

Once your phone is activated via Bluetooth, make sure they appear on the A-Z list. Otherwise, you won't be able to dial your phone contacts.

When I want to dial a number, I say "dial number," but when I want to dial a person I simply say "dial Mark" for instance. It recognizes the command (provided you are within the 'telephone' function).

The other day, I accidentally said used the word "call" instead of "dial" when I said "call mom." To my surprise, it dialed her.

Btw, I believe E90Fleet is correct in the post before mine. That's probably another way you can do this, but the shortcut method definitely works!

For i drive, the phonebook must successfully transfer from your phone, then you can use the command "Dial Name" and specify the name of the contact when prompted.

For non i-drive vehicles the telphone manual talks about creating a "Voice Activated Phone Book" See your specific manual for the most relevant info, or this manual http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6490 may help.

Thanks for the help. It now works, though, I had to record voice names for the system to load the phonebook. The system did not access my phone's voice dial memory.
Here is what I did:
1. Hit the Face button,
2. At tone prompt, I said,:" Save name"
3. System prompt says,"Say name"
4.I said " Jill"- You do this twice, as prompted
4. Prompt says "Say number"
5.I said "503 555 1212"
6. System restates number and "continue"?
7.I said "Save" and it was done.
8. I hit the face button
9. I say" Dial Name " and it works
