335d is sweet! Got to drive one when training down at the Performance Center. 425 lb torque!

wtf they're using a proper sequential turbo setup and getting >6s 0-60 times? wtf... pretty decent gas mileage....I know diesel lasts forever and all but why would anyone ever pick the 335d over the 335i?

Mileage. You get more miles per gallon although Diesel cost/gallon is higher. Still works out better for dollars per mile. I like the 335i gasoline. Quiet and faster.

the 335d is pretty damned quiet if you ask me.

I heard one idling and it sounds nothing like the detroit diesels you think of.

If GM can quiet the Duramax so much it almost doesnt sound like a diesel, then imagine what BMW can do to it.

Def wont sound like them old mercedes lol

ANd with that torque, I will overtake you on the parkway without even having to downshift...the best thing about diesels is they accelerate faster in every gear, compared to a gasoline car....where in a gas car, 1st and 2nd gear are very quick...but then accelerating in 3rd and 4th is mediocre. Think about how you accelerate in 1st and 2nd at full throttle, then imagine that in ALL gears (Im talking stock, no Procede crap piggyback bs)

One will not get better fuel mileage with a diesel. Not according to the article posted by BES335xi above. My gas driven 328xi is averaging 25.2 currently. Up from 24.9 since removing the redundant carbon filter in the air-box.

I have been driving a 2011 335d loaner for the last 4 days.... I have put over 300 miles on it... Gas hand is barely below 1/2. Dash reads 29.7 miles to the gallon average..... Yes, I have driven it "spiritedly"

The torque is intoxicating... I believe this thing would leave my 330xi like it was standing still.... Yes, you get a little diesel chatter at low rpm... But you also have all 425 ft/pounds of torque before you hit 2k rpms.... Definitely miss the harmonic sounds of the straight six...

Sound is so important. I have a Ford van with a V10. It doesn't sound like a V8. But it sure is a great motor. Absolutely trouble free and as inexpensive as it could be to maintain.

Glad to hear the diesel runs well. That's a lot of torque.
