M2 Competition: Questions for the Beijing Auto Show
Wanted to start a thread where everyone could post serious technical questions on the M2c that can be asked at the upcoming reveal in Beijing. Hoping that any member/s that will be attending the reveal would be so kind as to get in the ear of BMW on our behalf.
***Looking at SCOTT26 Please check the Q&A first before submitting any question/s. Please keep all subjective comments regarding the aesthetics of the M2c to yourself. Here are a few to start...

I can answer exhaust question. It has to be dual pipe like m3/4. Two gas flow coming from two turbo need to go thru 2 cats asap for maximum cat efficiency and quickest cat heat up. They can't merge into one prior to cat because efficiency will be lost. There is absolutely no reason to merge them post cats, at best there is a resonator somewhere in the middle pipe so it won't sound like two 3-cylinder.
That's why there are very few twin turbo use single pipe exhaust system.

I would not worry about the exhaust note of the coming S55.
The 1M, 2 Turbo`s, did sound bad ass, when firing her up early in the morning , the whole building shook So I do have confidence it wil sound better than in the M3/4, FWIW |

-This question isn’t necessarily serious, nor is it technical, but I really need to know, is my LCI M2 really going to be worthless when the M2C is released?

1. S55 engine 2. The chassis is stiffened with carbon strut brace spanning the engine bay. 3. Other small upgrades. 4. Literally the same price. People say all good things about the N55. But look at C63, people also say good things about the 6.2L V8. However, the "bad sound", laggy 4,0L biturbo, still took over its place. |
