Help! Is this a good deal?

I'm ready to pull the trigger and order my X3 30i. Based on other posts here, I don't think I'm doing very well - and this was the best deal (of five in Colorado).

Any thoughts/opinions/advice is greatly appreciated.
Is this good or should I be getting quotes outside of state?

Almost 13%. That’s not too shabby. Very well equipped I might add. Just like our m-sport.

You have a reasonable deal. I did extensive research and negotiation with multiple local dealers, arriving at a final deal 12.7% off of MSRP (including incentives) for an x3 m40i.

Where? How? I'm currently working a deal at just 8% off.

Here is the car I ordered in St Louis and the deal i negotiated at the end of Jan18.
My experience has been that deals are always sweeter at the end of the month.
What amazed me most is that i took delivery 17 days after ordering.

X3 m40i
Phytonic Blue Metallic
20" M Double-spoke bi-color wheels,
Canberra Beige/Black Vernasca Leather
Fineline Cove Matte Finish Wood Trim
Driving Assistance Package
Driving Assistance Plus Package
Executive Package
Premium Package
Front and Rear Heated Seats
Front ventilated seats
Rear manual side window shades
Wireless Charging and WiFi Hotspot
Adaptive M Suspension
Apple CarPlay Compatibility
Harman Kardon surround sound system
TOTAL MSRP as built including DESTINATION + HANDLING = $68,420
Negotiated price $64,080 (invoice) + $170 (training/service) - $3000 (dealer allowance) - $1500 (loyalty offer) = $59,750.
Thus, my total discount from MSRP was $8670 (12.7% of MSRP).

Just realized I did my math backwards....I'm actually getting 12.8% off as well. MSRP $63,770 and total discount of $8194. Just ordered Saturday. No production order number yet. I was told it'd be 2 weeks before I get it.

The deal is like ours, very good, but do you know that if you order the spare, the floor of the rear luggage area is raised about 2 inches? I think it looks horrible. We changed our order after seeing the pics on this forum.

Thanks... I'm torn about the spare. Yes, it looks absolutely horrible w/ that raised space in the back. Last December, I was a 120 miles out in the middle of nowhere with my X5 - had Bridgestone Blizzaks on and NOT my run-flats - and with no spare, When I got a flat, I was at the mercy of AAA. That makes me want to have a spare.

Not a bad deal

foxoffroadw,

I am getting a 10% total discount off MSRP here in the Midwest. So your almost 13% is not bad.

I have ordered the spare tire/non RFT configuration as I hate RFTs. In your case, ordering the spare tire option gives you the option of going with non RFTs later.

Thanks for the feedback. GREATLY appreciated.

I want the spare, but would rather have the flat cargo space. Its a trade off. Having a spare is smarter, but flat cargo space... oh man... that hurts my brain.

I ordered the vehicle this morning. Its done. AMEN. I can't think options any more. Will be ordering another vehicle in a month or so.

I carry a small compressor and a plug kit instead of a spare when the runflats wear out and are replaced with non RF

Did you get the spare

Foxoffroad,

Did you get the spare?

I just got my X3 today with the spare. I rather have the spare with the raised up charge floor than no spare. It is a personal choice.

Hope you are happy with your decision. Your price seems very good.

Hey Wallyf... no, I didn't. Honestly, I think having a spare is the smarter choice. lol

In the winter, when I run Blizzaks, I'll definitely do what Todd Hollander suggested and get a compressor and kit.

Really glad the vehicle is ordered. I was dreaming about X3 packages and options.

Congrats on the X3. Post up some pics.

Blizzacks are a good choice

Fxoffroad,

I use to live in Boulder and skied a lot. Had Blizzacks and loved them. Good choice. Are you getting 18 wheels as is typically suggested for snow?

I have a 325xi which came with RFTs, first year for them. They were Bridgestone and they were noisy, wondered all over, and road HARD. I switched to Michelin Pilot Exalto non RFTs with a Conti mobility kit. Never looked back. Non RFTs run so much better. Still have it and love it.

I said if I ever buy another BMW that offers a spare tire, I would get the spare. Yes I would prefer to have a flat cargo area but knowing I can change out my flat and get on is worth it.
Hope you enjoy your X3 when it arrives. My wife and I are busy learning all of the bells and whistles. Our 30i is the same as yours without the Executive pkg and Harmon Gardin radio.

Wallyf

I've been stuck in the middle of no-where Arizona in my 2016 328i xdrive with a hole in the sidewall of standard issue run flat. Not fun. After that event I went and purchased a BMW spare tire kit...another long story.

When I ordered my 2018 X3 I was thrilled to have a spare as an option for $150.00. Ordered it. Not a problem with loss of space at all. Besides run flats suck big time and made the test car feel bouncy. Just knowing I have a spare time in the boot when I'm out and about is just plain re-assuring. And standard radial tires feel better in my opinion. They hold better.

Thanks! That's not too bad. I prefer a spare in my SUV.

2 pics...

What I find interesting is that there is no difference in BMW's published cargo volume specification between models with and without spare tire...28.7 cu ft.even though there is an approximate 3.25 inch load lift (raised floor) on models with the spare tire (mine) and a zero load lift on the run flat version.

Another difference that I found interesting was there is no "hold open" position on models with a spare tire. On models without spare tire there is a Stabilus lift support shock that keeps the floor compartment cover open. On my X3 I use the grocery bag hook to rest the floor cover. Works just fine.
