F30 320D Rattle

Hi everyone, new to the forums and owning a BMW, recently purchased a 2014 320D M Sport Auto, cars perfect have done a few mods to it like a performance remap and a twin exhaust setup, one little thing started niggling me the past few days, I don't know if its always been there but whenever I accelerate there is a rattling/clattering noise sounds like metal, pretty sure its not the timing chain as it only rattles under acceleration, when the cars parked up and idling no noise whatsoever. I have read a few previous posts with similar issues saying that it may be an alternator pulley or a heat-shield, if anyone has any input or has come across this issues any input is much appreciated

Is this the noise you're talking about? You can just hear it in the video, it's more pronounced in the car. It's like as you described a clattering. I only get this with acceleration and not when I'm sitting revving the engine. I've got my 10000 service on Monday, I'll be having them check it out.

Yes very similar, just out of curiosity as it is in my case i only hear it inside the vehicle, if i accelerate there's no clattering on the exterior of the vehicle or engine bay, is this the same in your case?

I can only replicate the noise while driving. When I am sitting and revving I don't get that noise at all. I can't really hear a noticeable difference with the windows down either.

Brought it in today and of course I was in a hurry so I couldn't ride with a tech and of course they said they couldn't replicate the problem. Tomorrow I pick it up and they're going to ride with me. I'll let you know if there is anything from that.

Thanks, and I picked it up today and can't replicate the sound I was hearing. Even the pinging wasn't as loud. Talked to the tech and he said it could be because we had cold weather and that if it was anything with a serious diesel knock it would cause a CEL and that if I can replicate it again to come take a ride with him. We basically went from the 30's to 60's in the last 3 days. I had a 6 cylinder diesel for my last car and the 4 cylinder is a little noisier so like you said probably just normal chatter.
