Climate control issue
Hi all
My f31 appears to do something strange- set to 19.5 C on both sides, on auto with A/C button on, foot well vents blow hot air however its 24C outside (as noted by the car) with the ststrfied air dial on red the face vent blow warm/cool air, on blue icy cold. Is this a fault or a ‘feature’ as far as I’m aware there are no errors being generated . Any ideas- happy to go to a dealer if necessary. Thanks |

It is very annoying, roasting hot outside with roasting sweaty feet!
If i turn the temp down it does get cooler, at 16.5 it’s Luke warm at 16 cold and usually shuts off! Bloody annoying! Unless i use the manual air directions controls by directing only to face |

It’s definetley not a worthwhile feature , you would have thought a climate system set at 19.5c would maintain 19.5c and not cook your feet! I thought it was heat form the transmission tunnel at first! Thanks for your reply

Ive always found the central air vent wheel and the ability to blow warmer/cooler air with a twist a really good feature. Mine certainly doesn’t blow warm air to the feet when the ac is on so maybe a fault?

In that case there must be a problem with the ac? Mine felt fine but the dealer found that it had a leak from the condenser which they fixed under warranty. Dealer said they checked the temps from all the vents and found them to be inconsistent so investigated and found a leak.

No it’s not a feature and yes you have an issue. With the a/c on and set to 19C/66F you shouldn’t be getting hot air to the footwells.

So it looks like this could be an intermittent issue.
Yesterday and today, outdside temp about 22c, climate on auto set at 19.5 and footwell vents either blowing cool air or no air depending on how long i was in the car for. Any ideas? Is this likely to be software related or sensor related? Either way as its intermittent its going to be hard to replicate at the dealers to show them what’s wrong! |

+1. The wheel on the dash vents allows you to vary the air temperature from the dash vents to be warmer or colder than the foot well depending on whether the system is in heating or cooling mode, but it has no effect on the foot well air temperature. If the foot well air is blowing warm when it should be blowing cold you have a problem.

Yes this absolutely drives me crazy. Never before have I owned a car that you had to f with this much to get the right interior temp... On my E90 set it to 20 all year round and everything was perfect.

Same Issue
I have the same issue with my 430d GC for the past 10 months and it drives me made.
The first issue was it was blowing hot air at 16c unless you pressed the max air con button. The dealer reset things and it did not fix it, still blew hot air when it was supposed to be cold. So it went back to another dealer who told me it was working as expected, so I had to get shitty with them and get them to actually drive the car and warm the car up, they spoke with BMW and reprogrammed the computer. This solved the blowing hot air when at 16 around around the car except the foot well, it can be 16c and cooking my feet. Also if the centre vent is set to cold it blows hot air intermittently and the other issue I get is when driving slow I get diesel exhaust fumes in the cabin. I have owned 3 series before and never had this issue before. I am so fed up with this that I want to get rid of the car but I have lost 8K in 10 months of owning the car that I am in negative equity with it! It is a 2016 430d M-Sport GC with 38K I put 10K on it in 10 months, how can it lose so much money? Did you solve the issue, if you did I would love to know what the solution is? It is booked in to be looked at again, but I am not confident they will fix it. Cheers C |

Hello, I recently bought a 2012 f30, since I bought the car the climate control module doesn’t work, when you turn the car on the climate control will randomly turn on and off through the drive lasting 2-5 sec. But I cannot get any buttons on the climate control to respond (turn off or on). Any suggestions?

Two points. First, tagging on to a zombie thread doesn't get attention. Start a new one. Second, a code reader is mandatory. Get one, even if it's a freeware app.
