Hand-washed our Phytonic Blue M40i today. Here are some pics.

I hand-wash all of our vehicles using a two-bucket method. The X3 needed shampoo this time (Chemical Guys Honeydew foaming shampoo) due to recent rains, but typically I only need to use Optimum No Rinse.

Will be getting it coated with GTechniq in the near future.

Always hand wash mine with 2 buckets. Applied Chemical Guys Jet Seal a couple of weeks ago. Makes such a difference - really enhances the colour - especially in the Scottish sunshine!

Also attach a picture of good the wife's F25 came up after claying and seal. The bodywork feels very smooth!

Hello Scotland!

We have friends up in Kingussie that we hope to visit one day. Met them on a Viking river cruise in the Netherlands.

How do you like the Jet Seal? I haven't tried that product yet, as I typically go for a longer lasting coating.

Hi

Kingussie isn't too far from us. If you haven't already, try and get a trip over. We are a friendly bunch - just don't expect too much of the weather! Glorious sunshine yesterday and pouring today!

I really like the Jet Seal. Was recommended it by a friend who swears by it. It is very easy to work with and really improves the car.

I had looked at getting the car sealed professionally, call me a "tight Scotsman" - but rather than pay out I went for this option. But acknowledge that it won't last as long or be as good as a professional detailer can do.

My neighbour got his 911 done professionally and he thought mine had been done by a pro too - maybe I am in the wrong job!

Anyway, hope this helps. May be worth a try. In summary, how I do it is hose down the car, 2 x bucket wash with BMW car shampoo, hose down, G3 clay mitt with detailer spray (mitt is brilliant!), wipe down the panels and then apply 2 x coats of jet seal. I work fast, took me about 2 - 3 hours in total.

Let me know if you need to do anything else!

Thanks for the extra info. Yeah, I realize sealant is much easier to apply than a coating, and I have a professional detailer who does the GTechniq application but he no longer has an indoor space to let it cure correctly. So, I'm either waiting for him to get a garage/shop to work in, or find another detailer, or do something myself. Might have to go the route of using a sealant as a temporary stop-gap.
